Ok, I quite gambling about 3 months ago, but I just recently had a relapse, and drained my checking account, I also took out my wells fargo personal line of credit, thinking I'd use it to pay some bills until I got paid...but I ended up draining most of that too. I'm in college right now(taking summer classes)...Besides my student loans, I've got $3400 on one credit card, and $2200 on another, and now this $950 personal line of credit. This one gambling site said they'd refund $1000 of the money I used, because I was banned from their site for a gambling problem months ago, but now they're saying they won't give the refund. So I'm gonna dispute the charges. I taped the conversation where they said they'd refund the money(putting my cell phone on speaker phone and using that windows recording program), so I'll use that as leverage against them. I'm planning on using my stafford loans in the fall to pay off one credit card, and the wells fargo loan. Any advice?

I agree with the first two posters.

I just wanted to add that you really need to check the taping laws in your state.

If you're in a one party state, you don't need their permission to tape the conversation.

If you're in a two-party state you either need their pernission OR if they inform you that they may be recording the call then you automatically have consent from that party to record the call.

Call 1-800betsoff. Use this as a lesson and get a good job, pay off your debts and stay away from anything that involves even betting a penny. This could be a major turning point in your life; or the beginning of a downward spiral, but it is your decision to make.

listen. the time i spend here may be 30 minutes in 2 or 3 weeks is to read about other peoples experiences (mistakes) so i can learn and avoid them. but i had to answer u on this one. my heart goes out to u. so u want advice here it is.

first you have admitted there's a problem and you want to fix it. good. 2nd understand finances is more about behavior. identify what made you relapse. if you have web access at home that could be a reason too. disconnect it.u don't give an alcohol bottle to an alcoholic who just quit drinking. use you college computers to check email etc.

cancel/stop any and all access u have to borrow money. u behaviour (relapse) proves borrowing over here to pay over there is not going to help u. use the time u are not spending in www gambling to secure a job to bring in an extra income to pay off ur debts. sit down and figure out how much u need to pay per month to achieve this. cancelling ccards make sure you do it in writing and get a confirmation from them. the line of credit you have from wellsfargo will be recalled shortly and will become due once they become aware of your high risk behaviour (thro' ur credit report). make prior arrangments.

become crazy about becoming debt free and staying that way for the rest of your life. this needs you to employ gazelle intensity - when he has to get away from a lion out for a burger u get the idea.

i highly recommend u check out dave ramsey.com. get his book and read it with a gazelle focus its Total money make over and get on his program fast. it's simple, save $1000, for emergency, pay off your debts, build an emergency fund of 3 to 6 months equivalent of your expenses, invest to create wealth and give money away to help others. thanx to him i have my over $10,000 in credit cards paid off, my car and am plannign to pay cash for a home in 3 years. yes u can live in good ol' u.s.a without credit cards and debt just like they used to back when.

this is probably the best thing to happen to you financially cause yoiu will never forget this mess and u will probably never want a money mess again. so resolve to never again do stupid with money. u too deserve to the best of what money offers but that depends on u getting it on a leash instead of it putting you on a leash like most americans. when you are ready the teacher will appear. and he is dave ramsey. check out local listings for his radio show. u can contact me if u need to emailhenryjatyahoodotcom
