ive had some shoulder pain recently after lifting anything over 10 lbs. I am a mechanic, and when i use a drill, hammer, etc, i have a sharp pain in my right shoulder. Also i cant throw a football or anything for more than 5 minutes before i get the same pain in my shoulder. What could be causing this, what can i do to relieve this pain. could it be serious? the pain does go away a couple hours later but i didnt know what could be causing this. thanks

could it just be a pinched nerve, because the pain goes down to about my elbow sometimes. but since the pain goes away after a few hours, would that make it not serious? thanks

You could have a muscle or tendon injury. You do need to see an orthopedic doctor and have this checked out.

In the meantime apply a moist heating pad to the shoulder for twenty minutes. Afterwards apply an analgesic cream. Do this several times a day.

Advil soft gel capsules are very good for helping with pain. Take them four times daily.

You should not have pain after lifting 10 lbs. You need to see a doctor.
