signed American rebel, You haven't a clue what you are talking about.

Satan himself? Nobody believes as strongly as him. You should stop truanting at school - you may learn about the bible enough to be able to make an intelligent comment.

War is not always evil. Sometimes its necessary. But I noticed there were no answers from anyone that hinted of military experience. No one hates war more than a soldier. Not generals, soldiers, the ones that have agreed to go and serve those that either can't or won't.

I was in Desert Storm and never saw an American soldier, a Brit soldier, or even the tough French Foriegn Legion (yeah they were there too) say they liked war.

But its our duty to protect those that can't do it themselves then live with the nightmares later. And all for people that usually are against us.

Why would any sane person do that? For the greater good maybe?

I am a believer;to be specific a muslim having faith in the winning power of truth and virtue.Wars are/were always evil and I believe that nobody has the right to kill anbody unless the other is bent upon killing him as in declared war or even in an individual encounter.Wars are the result of failure in resolving conflicts by two parties.Best course of action would be that amicable settlement be arrived before conflicts a if conflicts are resolved amicably, the third parties should take notice of the party defying the attempts for settlement and wag a war against the party who is chosing the war alternative.Till we cannot finish the conflicts we cannot stop wars. However, we can minimize wars, if we chose to opt the way as described above and this what Islam propounds.Till the human beings are greedy and the nations are greedy, they will continue to wag wars against the weaker nation. Those who do not wars to take place must first ensure that human being are no more needy and greedy.

If you are speaking from a Biblical standpoint, satan started the war when he rebelled and tried to oneupmanship with God. God will finish it. True, war is a nasty thing, but that's what it's all about - good verses evil. For example: God created all that there is including the angels. Lucifer (satan) was created by Him to be the "anointed cherub that guards" (the mercy seat). He was made most beautifully by God, but became vain and decided to place himself above God. How would you feel if you were a father that created a being, told him the rules, loved that being and that very being turned on you and decided that he was better and more powerful than you were and broke your rules? Would you not do something about it? Of course you would and so did God. He took care of the situation by casting satan out of heaven so that he couldn't taint the others. Even at that, satan took some of the angels with him when he left. Thus, the war - good verses evil- it is satans plan to take as many souls to hell with him as he can. Winning is his only goal now that his destiny is set. He is a "dead angel walking" so to speak. Satan no longer has a choice, but we do. God is always fair.

I don't know if I'm a believer or not but I'm sure someone will read this and put a label on me!

The answer is yes, but the real question is how do all the different religions, beliefs, creeds, egos etc etc that make up the humans of this planet live without war together!

Just remember that before you became what became and before you believed what you now think you believe - all of us homo sapiens were/are the same. Take away all the crap that we have picked up in our life (and made up our belief systems) and we are the same inocent humans with different shades of skin and two different flavour of gender (or sometimes a mixture)... Anyway my point is our emotions fuelled by beliefs ( be it atheiest, Christian or kux klux klan) is what causes wars to start and people to kill. You also could say some beliefs are evil - Sorry but its my belief!

We have had wars and fighting even in Biblical times. And yes they are evil so to speak but even God told others to strike others down. We being human will always be involved in wars. we do not know any other way. I do not know if it is instinct or genetics but something makes us want to fight. look at all the young kids killing each other in the gangs wars. They are wars not fights. They have some of the same weapons as the armed forces. Also it is the few that declare the wars and the many and probably the ones who would rather not but out of honor go to fight. To answer the rest of your question I am a believer.

There are Holy Wars. To me a Holy War is a war where there is no blood shed. That is not the usual definition, but I consider a non-violent protest as a war against inhumanity. Whether the war is fought by Mahatma Gandhi, the pacifist blacks in the US, Cesar Chavez in the lettuce fields of California, or Moses leading his people out of Egypt that is a Holy War in my thinking and it is not evil. When people go to war to kill, rape or plunder other people, then it is always evil. I am Catholic.

A joke I used to say; The best way to make peace is to kill the enemy. ( it's a joke)

War is always wrong, but why do we war? Kill the reason for war and there would be no war.
Greed, hatred, prejudice, pride, selfish love, land, misunderstandings.

I left religion out on purpose, it encompasses all of the above.

believer who would prefer to be called a believer. Atheist in the title of who I am, whether non or not, I don't think so.

I'm a believer.

I agree that war is not necessarily good, but it is not necessarily bad. Think about it. In WWII, if Britain did not get involved, many Polish people and many more innocent people would have died. Also, I doubt that Hitler was open to a discussion over a cup a tea and a couple of biccies.
I also think that many wars could have been prevented and that war is only;y acceptable as a last resort.

I am an atheist.
Yes, war is evil and I have learnt to detest the term 'pre-emptive strike'. Its just an excuse to start a blood bath.
I fail to see how people can believe that George Bush is a good Christian.

try telling me that for the period of 2013 :) :P I belive death on the tender age of 21 may be a foul element for me. i does not believe the Mayans or the Bible on that prediction however. The Mayan way of existence no longer exists and the Bible develop into written 2000 years in the past (properly, 2000-1700 years in the past); neither are stable sources in this subject. the place did you study the article that the international will bring about 2012? As previous human beings have stated, there have been many 'end of the international' predictions that have failed, needless to say, why might this one be any distinctive?
