I'm not 100% positive on this, but as far as I can remember there are only a few instances in which the Bible condones divorce- when adultery has been committed, if one partner is breaking the laws of God or if there is abuse involved. Otherwise, the Bible is against divorce. Lemme double check and i'll get back with ya.
*everything I found has said that the ONLY time divorce is acceptable is if adultery is involved. Otherwise, God hates divorce and it should be avoided.

Like most foolish people who spend their life looking for a rock to build a house upon, the NT's invocation against marrying the divorced, and thus committing adultery, is meant to represent a deeper symbolic truth.
In other words, he is questioning the deeper purpose of the words actions and institutions that are/were governing the Jews at the time. Instead of holy men who should have been worried about maintaining and understanding their covenant with God, they were worried about whether or not Moses' hair was parted on the left or right, and how long his hair was, thus to 'make true' their own hair.
Marriage is only as sacred as the people who make it. So, when two people make an act sacred, for either one of them to be unfaithful is to committ adultery, and thus the warning against marrying a 'divorced' woman.
However, if two people did not come together in marriage for a sacred purpose, if they did it for a profane purpose: family pressure, social custom, 'everyone else is doing it', etc etc etc, then such a 'covenant' has no meaning and divorce carries no penalty of adultery.
"From the mind stems evil designs...These are the things that make a man impuree. As for eating with unwashed hands--that makes no man impure."

The NT quotes Son of Man saying divorce is only possible if the cause was infidelity, but marriage after divorce, anyone aiding and abetting the divorce are all guilty of the catch-all sin we call adultery. For what it's worth. As an odd artifact, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, one or the or the other partner has to get up on the witness stand and claim they were they one that committed adultery to finalize a Common Law Divorce.

It's one of those issues that there is no clear Black and White answer.
Ultimately, in far too many cases, people marry without really getting to know that person and ensuring that this is a person that they can stay married to for better or for worse. A person may look romantically at the person without realizing their flaws and later they realize that they can no longer live with those flaws.
In other cases, one partner will cheat on their spouse, or the spouse is abusive. In two cases I know of, the mother divorced the father because the father turned out to be a pedophile to his own children. That father not only committed adultery with his own children, but also committed a sin and a crime against his own flesh and blood. In a case like that, I feel that God definitely accepts the divorce of the unfaithful and immoral spouse.
So, the bible says that you should not get a divorce. But God does allow it, even though God states that he hates divorce in the book of Malachi. Here's the scripture that comes to mind from Matthew 19:7-8
7"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"
8Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

According to the bible the only acceptable reason for a divorce is infidelity. If you divorce for any other reason, it is a sin if you remarry.
