Lusty musky Pan, danced and dreamt and played
with ladies young and old, and gents from early days
Before the tales from Rome absconded with his tales
He played his pipes, and led astry through misty mountain vales.

I man name Levi had a theory based on nothing that baphomet which the Knights Templar said when being tortured they worshipped. I believe only 12 said this out of 184. Now the words don't have a direct translation to anything. A few good theories was the french work for the Islamic prophet. Another stated it translates to Sophia or Wisdom. In Jewish using a code from Dead Sea Scrolls it also translates to Wisdom. The goat came from LEvi many many years after the fact based on no real fact. Recorded documents in France and by papul bulls at the time mentions the word baphomet and something to do with three heads. One or two accounts mentioned hair. False idol was the crime and back than you couldn't even study such things I imagine.

It has to do, I believe, with an ancient Hebrew custom. At a specific time fo year, two goats meeting certain criteria were chosen. One was slaughtered as sacrifice to the Hebrew God, the other was driven from the village and believed to represent all the evil and sin that the village had accumulated over the year. This is the origin of the idea of the 'scapegoat'. It was the observations of early missionaries into the holy land that began the association of the goat with evil in the minds of men.

goats to one side sheep to the other is over read and the goat leaves the realm of a symbol of wisdom to a symbol of hell my thoughts are that if this is accurately told it should probably be interpreted as a hypothetical arrangement that people read too much into and miss the point . Jesus also said look inside yourself to find god and heaven . do you have to die to to look inside yourself ? try and be practical and find an adult application not that of a child . goats don't know if they get a bad rap anyway take whatever symbols you choose just let them stand for a good application to human life that's the purpose after all is said and done.
also try not to condemn each other in the name of satan or the name of god and find some human kindness instead.
peace

I think the goat is a pagan symbol. When Christianity spread in the 1300s and 1400s, the leaders of the church went to great lengths to villify anything having to do with paganism.
The irony is that the pagans of the time were more spiritual than many of the christians.

my guess: it's those horns. They make goats look like little devils , and to Christians, that is a cause for great alarm, as you know.
Just a thought...
(this is coming from a pagan, not a Christian. Personally, I love goats and I crack my students up when I imitate them. baaaaaaaaa)

Probably because of those damn freaky eyes.
But goats are special in my religion, because they are sacred to Thor.
...those eyes are damn freaky, though.
