It's not being cocky, it's having hope.
People need to have hope for a good leader and be able to trust them. To Christians, he is the center of their faith and it is their hope that drives them to lead moral lives.
There is hope that if he does come back, they will finally be rewarded with their lifetime of faithfulness.

The Chrisians who are cocky should be worried because they are gloating and casting judgements on their fellow man, which Christians are not supposed to do.

You could of stopped with the first part of your question and it would of been so so. But to answer it I do not think it is so much that they are cocky it is just a fact but it is when and will you be ready. The ones you call cocky are ready.are you.
