I'm going to give you a little advice (and this is from experience). Air Force recruiters are the least pushy of all the branches, simply because of the fact that they are currently overmanned. Even so, be careful and get everything you want guaranteed to you in writing and signed by the recruiter. As far as leaving by september, that is a bit tricky. The Air Force does not always just send you out. They often wait until there is a job coming up that you have chosen. Both of my roommates are in the Air Force, and they didn't get the whole process of enlisting finished until months after their first visit to the recruiter. Either way, make sure it is something that you really want to do so that you don't waste you or the recruiters time. Once you are in the Delayed Entry Program, you are technically and "morally" obligated to go. Good luck, the (ch)Air Force is a good branch for people who don't want to much exposure to military lifestyle.

Contact the Air Force Recruiter closer to September. The AF enlists folks mostly on open contracts, and they'll be pushing you to ship out before the end of the fiscal year.
Normally, you need about 7 days for any branch from contract to ship so if you include that time as well, you should talk to the recruiter about the middle of August. By waiting, you wont get stuck with a crap AFSC and there is a greater chance you'll be selected from the 'new' job load, for the new year.

Hey, buddy, I compliment you on your choice. I joined the USAF, in 1975. They had a delayed, enlistment program, at the time. I am sure, they still have it, today. Check with the recruiter-your time should be specified. Mine was for six (6) months. If that is the way it is now, then just back figure when you want to go active. It works, everytime, Airman. Good luck and this civilian is proud of ya. Peace!

If you want to do it in September, do it in September. What's the problem? Do it when YOU are ready.
When to visit a recruiter? A couple of months before you want to be shipped out. It takes time to do all the paperwork.
And if you are really serious about this, my hat is off to you!

First issues first. in case you could bypass severe college well being midsection type and you may say definite sir/ma'am than uncomplicated would be elementary. The air rigidity BMT (uncomplicated protection rigidity education) isn't as no longer elementary as a results of fact the different branches. in simple terms shop out of ways of the education Instructers and make optimistic your clothing is folder appropriate, and you'd be great. you ought to get yelled at some circumstances for stupid issues, yet its no longer something to rigidity approximately. at circumstances you will think of the air rigidity sucks, yet bear in mind this, the operational air rigidity isn't something like uncomplicated. Now, the version between the reserve and energetic accountability. properly with reserve you may setting up extra frequently. They spend extra time remote places that energetic accountability does. additionally interior the reserve its extra stable to make rank. I see previous men the comparable rank as i'm and that i'm 23. In energetic accountability you may make a clean rank each 2 years in case you are attempting. Now your activity. Intelligence i pay attention is a stable activity. a guy i as quickly as labored with went and did that activity. the single element approximately this is that this: alot of your activity is classed and you cant tell every physique what you do at artwork. approximately your grandma. in simple terms remind right here which you would be able to bypass to college at the same time as interior the air rigidity and get a level. There alot of nice issues with regards to the air rigidity. while you're married you gets a commission added funds to stay off base. (BAH). you may stay interior the dorms, so which you may get unfastened nutrients on the chow hall. unfastened scientific/dental. each base has a well being midsection, and maximum have swimming pools. unfastened training. there are maximum of alternative issues. And the final advice i'm going to provide. once you bypass to uncomplicated take a roll of quaters for the snack/soda machines once you get pattio breaks. as quickly as a week on a weekend you would be allowed to bypass out to slightly area with telephones and snacks and drinks to basically relax for basically slightly. i think of they provide you like 10 minutes. besides the shown fact that it would suck to get obtainable and not have any quaters.

Your first step to an USAF career is to speak to your recruiter now. Clearly tell him what you want to do in USAF and when you'd like to go. Pay close attention to what he / she tells you (noting what's said 'between the lines') and carefully map out and choose your career directions.

Lackland AFB is hotter than Hell right now; early to mid October is perfect for boot camp training. The rest of fall and winter isn't all that bad, either.

Now, all the best jobs go fast, especially this time of the year, you can enlist now and enter the dep, delayed entry program and leave in sept, as long they can get you a school date.

Get in the DEP program ASAP that way you'll get a job you'll like. After that, I recommend going to basic training in September. September is not as hot as August in Texas and you won't be missing any holidays while in BMT.
