I have NEVER heard of registering a pellet gun. Are you in the US?

As far as insuring it, why would you. They are not that expensive to repalce, unless it is some kind of liability insurance... Even then, I wouldn't get that insurance...

Last and definately NOT least. If you were given the pellet gun and did not purchase it, how did they know to ask you about it? This would have me asking quesitons of my own!

Something doesn't sound right about the whole story. Why would anyone send you a pellet gun without asking you first? Pellet guns never had to be registered where I worked but many a person has been shot when they had one because some do look like real guns ~ officers can't wait to find out if it's a pellet gun or a real gun if someone is pointing it at them (and many have done that for some reason, not that I think you would do that).

If I were you, I would call the PD and ask them to come and pick it up and turn it into their Property Room. Give the information of the owners/those who sent it to you and let the PD notify them they have it. If they don't pick it up after the allotted time (where I worked it was 90 days), they will destroy it.

It isn't in your possession so you can't get in trouble for having it for any reason in case it's been involved in some criminal mischief/crime of some kind.

No, BB or "Pellet" guns DO NOT have to be registered by the owner and you DO NOT have to buy or carry any insurance to keep one in your home..

It soulds like someone is trying to con you and pull you into a scheeme so they can pocket your cash.
Please take the form to your local city hall and let them look into this. It might be something the police will need to be advised to warn others of a scam.

You can not get in any trouble for having it UNLESS you are a convicted felon..

No, it comes bypass into opposite to earth. It would not have the rigidity mandatory to conquer gravity. Rockets with various gasoline and means are mandatory for the gap commute, and your BB might want an identical relative volume of rigidity. You did no longer hear it come down with the aid of fact it went a approaches adequate as much as be blown someplace else and are available down someplace else. even with the reality that the possibility of the BB coming down on a individual or merchandise it ought to break is narrow, the risk of capturing a BB or any bullet into the air is which you do no longer understand the place this is going to come down. In different words, you do no longer understand the place you're capturing, and you need to be held in charge if the BB injures somebody or somethihg.
