Last year North Korea launched missiles at us but they didn't reach us.
So I was wondering if it's possible they or someone else might try to do it again this year.
The 4th is an excellent time to attack us because we're already making a bunch of noise with fireworks celebrations.
And it would be a direct display of disrespect for celebrating our independance.

Some of you people are truly pathetic.
It was all over the news last year that North Korea launched test missiles at us but the missiles couldn't reach us.
And President Bush said he didn't know what they meant by doing that.
And they did it on the fourth of July.
I don't need a link to remember something like that all I need is my memory which obviously seems to be working much better than most yours.

This worry is commonly unfounded. If there's anything the past few years of investigations and increased governmental security has shown us, they are many opportunities to uncover if such a plan were in the process. Events this large do not go unnoticed or unreported, but keep in mind this is not information civilians would or should easily be completely aware of. Being paranoid about "what if?" is dangerous and the last thing the government needs is people reporting "I'm worried" and drowning out any serious reportable occurances.

As for me thinking we could be attacked. In my opinion, even with the Bush administration's history of intelligence failures, the system is too large to actually allow an attack to happen, short of intentionally letting it go by. Keep in mind, people like you and me and everyone here work in these intelligence agencies, and do not want anything to happen to this country. We are safe from overseas threats (and the launch by North Korea actually showed us that they as of present cannot reach us without attempting to invade).

umm, no, North Korea did not launch a missile at us. They fired some short and medium range missiles and they all more or less failed. Japan was more upset then anyone else.
Korea might have a nut for a leader but he isn't stupid.
America has 5,000 missiles, with over 2,000 having multiple warheads capable of wiping Korea off the map. If any body launches so much as a rock at us they risk total annihilation.
.
Relax, we are in more danger from President Bush then we are from outside enemies.

Here's a link for you. I really think it would benefit you to at least skim it over:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/07/04/korea.missile/

Note: this was a test missile launch. Not an attack. I guess you can take the liberty of assuming it was an actual attack. Believe me, Japan has a lot more to worry about than you.

Also of note, scroll down part way, read the bit under the heading "Difficult Technology".

Our threat assessment has them at a minimum of 10 years to reach the technology level needed to get a missile on target half way around the world.

That said, they could get outside help, etc, but the North Koreans are notorious for being secluded, and not wanting outside help except for maybe from Russia.

Now, would Russia attack us, or provide assistance to a country to do so?

That is the scarier question...

Good day...

That was the apparent plan for the foiled JFK plot. Test missiles are test missiles and things are starting to look optimistic for North and South Korea as they just began opening their border with a railway.

I'd like to know what the Domestic terrorists are up to like the guys that bombed the Federal Building in OK City or the Anthrax.

Do you have any links about the alleged missiles? I didn't hear about that. I also thought a missile launch would be considered an act of war.

Either way, I'm confident in our technology to have advanced knowledge, because of radar and such things.

You are paranoid and misinformed.
And, people, stop posting links to web sites as proof of anything.
99% of the "information" on the Internet makes no sense. ANYBODY can start a web site and post anything.
Come on, if something is written somewhere it doesn't mean it's the truth!

WTF are you talking about? N. Korea did a TEST launch, and it was NOT on the 4th of July. No, we will not be attacked. But just in case you better duct tape up your windows and stay inside your house.
