I can never go to the bathroom without having my 4 yr. old, 18 mo. old, AND CAT follow me in there. I swear there must be one of those chimes go off in their head whenever I walk through the bathroom door! Why is that?

What cracks me up is when my son asks, "what are you doing in there?" I'm like, "I'm building a rocketship son, what do you think?!"

I really laughed at this. I remember going through the same way. I swear that there was a gong attached to the toilet seat because as soon as I sat down, here came the crowd. It's one of those things that all moms are connected to each other with... strange but true.

"Why don't you tell them not to" ????? Yeah right! That is actually encouragement to my little varmints. I understand your pain sista. My husband spends more uninterrupted time in the bathroom in one evening than I have had all year. My daughter and both cats follow me in the minute I go, although they have not paid me any attention for the previous 20 minutes, the second my butt hits the seat there they all are! I think in their heart of hearts they are (in their own strange and twisted way) trying to show support. Although toileting isn't a team sport they probably just want the assurance that you do intend to come back out of the bathroom. I know I have been tempted to barricade the door and stay in from time to time. At least there is someone available to hand you a roll of toilet paper if you need it. Beats sitting around waiting for rescue. At any rate, good luck in achieving the mommie's 'holy grail' of unattended bathroom time. Maybe if we start making them clean when they follow us in it wouldn't be so appealing, plus we would get a cleaner bathroom, Hmmm.

That's because they're ALL hardwired that way. Once they hit 12 months, the need to follow Mama everywhere, including the bathroom, is well---they can't help it. :)

Same as the 'can't take a shower in peace' too. :D

Because none of them are of an age to understand what you are doing. Get over it, eventually this will not be a problem.

I did that to my mom, too. I don't know why I did it, but I guess I really enjoyed it...lol

if it bothers you a lot why don't you tell them not to?
