Whenever I'm meeting new people or doing something as simple as ordering food, I feel the urge to play the nice guy and act really respectful. I can't help it, it's automatic. Since I actually am friendly I get along with everybody. But this nice guy thing is killing my opportunities to flirt. Is this something I should be trying to change?

Yeah..grow some balls. That stuff doesn't attract girls, but it will get you alot of friends. You answered your own question.

Well what's wrong with treating people with respect? Nothing. Respect is very important to people. People are willing to get into fist fights sometimes because they have been disrespected. Treating people nice but disrespecting yourself in the process is a problem though. It's no more OK to disrespect yourself than it is to disrespect someone else. But I don't know if that's what you're doing.
As far as killing your opportunities to flirt, well, it sounds like you feel somehow uncomfortable with the flirting process and you're putting this nice guy thing between you and potential mates. Come on, the reason girls aren't going for you is because you treat them with lots of respect...right. There are plenty of girls out there who value themselves enough to be comfortable around guys who treat them with respect. Something else is sabatoging your romantic life and you need to look into what it is.

Why is it killing your opportunities to flirt? If you're a nice guy, flirt in a nice way. It is possible. Don't change yourself to please others, no matter what.
