I had a quincenera about 10 years ago....yes that means I'm 25. My dress was pink what a surprise and my damas wore burgundy dresses. My mom started making all the table decorations like when i was 13 1/2.
Well you guys have the most important done. Now what about music? We had a choir in church, a mariachi at the dinner, and a 'norteno' group for the dance.
Well the church depends on what religion you are. I'm catholic, i don't know what religion you are. after that it would be nice if you took pictures, dinner, vals, father daughter dance, toast, dance, cake, dance some more.
FYI: 14 damas is alot especially if you have 15 guys. think about just 15 guys not as high maintenance as girls, or a smaller group like 4 or 7 couples.

Pick them a simple dress than they would be able to wear again. Something like a sheath. What are your favorite colors? Ir you were to plan the coolest party you can imagine right now what would it be?

Ask some family members what they did for theirs and what they liked/did not like. Ask some other members of your church.

This needs to reflect YOU! This is a big deal in your life so use it to define who you are. For many girls, its obviously pink and pastels and flower wreaths in their hair. I was not that kind of girl. For me it would have been very tomboyish. Perhaps shades of blue and green and jewel tones with a lot of dancing--so modern popular music.

For a theme imagine it was your wedding. What interests you the most? I've seen medieval/Renaissance, goth/punk, Rio Carnival/New Orleans, very artsy, magical whimsical and ethnic/cultural. When you imagine a great idea--what is it? Kinda a Dr Seuss, Alice in Wonderland--or more a Vegas inspired? French countryside or Spain's running with the bulls? What kind of person are you--what suits you?

If you have a lot of friends coming who are not hispanic, use hot latin colors. Big bold colors, big bold flavors in the food. Latin music.

Let the 2 ideas grow from each other. Either pick colors and see if when you focus on those colors if a theme comes through (I mean obviously if you pick pastels then a lot of themes dont work)--or pick a theme and see what colors come from it. For my wedding I went with tropical and of course the colors were turquoise water, sandy beaches, lime and jungle green, bright flowers in fushias and corals. Tropical isn't black and red or baby pink. If you have an idea for a theme, what colors come to mind? If you have an idea for a color, what theme does that knock out.

What colors do you hate? What ideas do you hate? That will help you limit as well.

Just let the 2 ideas fuel each other.
