should we do it only once a year?

You don't "need" to do it ever. It's called a sacrament and it's really more of a reflection or a celebration.

It is NOT a requirement for Grace as the book of Acts clearly states that Grace is received "by Faith alone."

By your argument, it should never be done...not even once a year. Your argument says that Jesus died once, so why should it ever happen again...right?

The rite of Communion is a rememberence. Rememberence is not the act of remembering. Rememberence is the act of recreating the act (look it up). We recreate the actions of Jesus at the Last Supper, the Thursday night before He died and rose again.
He blessed bread, broke it, and served it to His followers, telling them that it was His body, given up for them. We do the same.
He blessed wine, and served it to His followers, telling them that it was His blood, poured out for them. We do the same.
In the end, He said, "Do this in rememberence of me."

We obey.

There are some groups of Christians that only celebrate communion once a year and then they only do it on the anniversary of when they believe the last supper occurred. But the Bible itself gives no direction on the subject other than to say as often as you do it, do it in remembrance of me. I currently go to a church that celebrates it once a month, but the old preacher only did it once a quarter. I believe that it becomes more special the less often you do it, but to each his own.

you don't have to have communion. this is something done in observance of the body and blood of Jesue Christ that was shed on the Cross. This is done in rememberance of Jesus and the sacrifice He made on the Cross for all mankind. this is a tribute to Christ until He comes again. it does not matter how many time you take it, it matters why you take it.

The act of communion is a church tradition based on Jesus request to the diciples that they should "do this in remembrance of me". I am not convinced that this meant that we are all to do this in remembrance of Jesus. It is however symbolic of the Christian's faith in the forgiveness of sins through the body and blood of Christ. Perhaps some think that it takes the wafer/bread and wine to have this months sins forgiven. (I am being facitious)

The authentic eucharist (holy communion) in the Catholic Church, consists of the real presence (body, blood, soul, and divinity) of Jesus Christ ... the very same Jesus with whom we hope to spend eternity.

How often would you go to see him, if you were in heaven?

it is just tradition. we dont necessarily NEED communion. no where in the bible does it say to have communion once a month, or at all for that matter. it is just a reminder of the price He paid for us. its merely a ritual

! Corinthians 11:23-26

For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, "Take eat: this is my body, which was broken for you: do in remembrance of me". After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had drank, saying "This is the new tstament in my blood: this you do, as often as you drink it , in remembrance of me". For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do shew the Lord's death till he returns.
