Not all Muslim countries do that.
But those that do! It is a method of control, and it is not just for the Non Muslims, but the Muslim women as well.

And when those women who do cover up visit non-Muslim countries, they want to cover up for their freedom to practice their religion. Freedom of religion, part of the constitution.

I've never really been in that situation, but I'm guessing that dressing like a Muslim is just for respect and shows that you accept their culture. It's not just muslims who wrap their heads and wear a certain cloth. It's possibly part of their regions culture. As for Muslim women go to non-muslim countries and dressing in their clothing.... It shows respsect and pride to their religion. Plus, most countries are very diverse and many Muslim women have no problem wearing their dress.

This is not the case in all Muslim countries, but generally even if not required to wear the abayah, women must dress more modestly in Muslim countries than western lands. Things like shorts and halter tops are generally considered indecent.
Women who are accustomed to that level of modesty would feel uncomfortable dressing in western clothing, especially since much of the women's clothing is designed to be revealing or brings undue attention to womanly features. (see 1Corinthians 9:22-23)

Because they will get stared at by the Muslim men and because the Muslim countries don't want lawsuits from foreign women in their countries. Also because the women will be better protected from getting raped if they are covered and they will be equal to the Muslim women. Also the Muslim women are used to wearing the Abaya and Hijab and it is because they are more comfortable in their own clothing then in Western clothing and they don't want to get bad credit from ALLAH(SWT) if they don't cover up.

This is simply not true, it's only the case in some Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran. When I was in Egypt with my Muslim friend who wears headscarf I could always wear t-shirts and I didn't cover my hair, and she even encouraged me to do so when I wasn't sure. I saw many Western women dressed in Western way in Egypt and when we went to the beach at the Red Sea I could even wear bikini and even saw some women there taking their sunbaths being topless! I wasn't sure if I should really go swimming when my friend who dresses in Islamic way couldn't, I thought it was rude, but she encouraged me a lot.
Also many of the Egyptian woman don't cover their hair, most of them cover their arms, but my rough guess is that maybe about half of the women in Cairo were wearing headscarfs when I was there.

I haven't been to other Muslim countries myself, but I know that also in Turkey you can dress as you wish, and go swimming in bikini and all, and also in other countries where many tourists go like Marocco and Tunesia.

most countries have local laws regarding public lewdness.

In some countries, too much skin exposed by a woman is considered 'lewdness'. So women have to cover up. They don't have to wear 'muslim' clothes - whatever that is - but they do have to be covered in a way in accord with local custom.

Here the public lewdness rulea are less strict - so women (and men) have more freedom to dress in whatever way they want.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

various international places interior the middle East have non secular Policemen (Muttawa). The memories I even have heard tell related to the Muttawa policing areas like finding out to purchase centres, faculties and so on. they have been regularly occurring to arrest women and their husbands for permitting beside the point gown in public. there replaced into even an incident in Saudi Arabia the place the Muttawa end the rescue of school females in a burning construction because of the fact they weren't wearing Islamic gown. Western women could experience the pointy prod of a stick in the event that they forgot to conceal their hair and shoulders with shawls or scarves; expatriate workers go through the dread of being arrested for wearing the taint of alcohol on the breath; or distant places travellers could nicely be accosted for attempting to communicate with a Saudi woman. for this reason non-Muslim women placed on Islamic gown to dodge those incidents. The Muttawa have additionally been regularly occurring to raid toy shops and present shops for something related to the Western holiday season, which includes flora, candles, filled animals, Barbie dolls and different products considered evil. those are risky human beings and the conventional public are particularly petrified of them. I even have in no way been to a sort of places yet I did paintings for an element of the government the place comments of this nature have been won. undesirable memories.

Okay. In a Muslim culture, men are blameless. If a man rapes a woman, it is because she made herself irresistible. (this is horse-****, but this is how they think).
Thus, they make ALL women...not just Muslim women cover themselves so that the men will not be tempted.

If the culture simply said that both women AND men had to control themsevles, things would be much different.

This is a free country (as it should be) and they should be allowed to wear what they want. Just because there are other countries that are not free countries out there (and you don't think that is fair), doesn't mean we should start acting like them. If you don't like it, I suggest you don't go to those countries.

It is a sign of respect (not agreement) for the Islamic faith. Men would be offended if a woman did not dress appropriately.
