Go back to the doctor and ask them to do a blood test and specifically test for HLA-B27 gene. This disease often gets misdiagnosed or goes undiagnosed for years, because the symptoms mimic so many other disorders of the hips or spine. My husband suffered nearly 2 years with pains like you are describing and nothing could be found on xrays. A simple blood test confirmed the presence of the gene, and hubby is now taking treatments for his disease. Good luck to you.

Its hard to say without knowing more about your other conditions that you are taking the Fentanyl and other pain meds for. XRays can show osteoarthritis (a possibility in the hips at age 44) or any other degenerative or disease process of the bones. If you are not having relief from chronic pain, you should consider a pain clinic. It is a multidisciplinary approach to dealing with chronic pain. Relying only on medication for chronic pain is usually not effective.

How is the circulation from your hip to your toes. If you have decreased pulses in your feet, you may have spinal stenosis. It makes your hips hurt really bad, and with lack circulation, your toes(usually your little one)will turn black and die off(gangrene). A CT scan or MRI may find the problem that the x-ray cannot. Request these tests to narrow down what the cause may be. Try using a heating pad or rice socks to help with muscle pain, and to draw circulation to the area. Massage, hot tubs, hot springs all will help ease pain, but may not take it away.

I have suffered from hip pain for years. Best thing for relief is exercise - seriously. Take a 30/50 minute brisk walk every day. I have also found that acupuncture can really help relieve the pain. Good luck!

As you say this is sever and Xray shows nothing. I would say it may be caused by your nerves or spinal problems. if the pain is caused by walking then it may be ischemic pain (not likely in your age and for being a female) , butI can't say without proper question and examination, get a a better doctor

If you have swelling in your lower legs and feet see a doctor immediately. Otherwise I would suggest that you get an x-ray. You also may need an anti-inflammatory from minor injury that has been strained and reinjured from being a busy mom. Good Luck.

Have you been exercising lately? It could be a lactic acid buildup. I am not sure how to relieve the pain, but my best bet would be ice on it for now.
