Dear collectivetheresa,
The Bible does not state how often we should partake in Communion. It says as often as you do it- do it in remembrance of Jesus.
Some churches do celebrate the Lord's supper weekly while others do it monthly or etc.
i think its a decision that is up to the leadership at your church. You should submit to their reasons- but you can also always ask why and also make suggestions and if they're a good leadership they'll give consideration to your suggestions and thoughts.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

I've been a member both kinds of churches. I find that in a church that has communion every week, you have a tendency to take it for granted, and not appreciate the meaning behind it. It can be just another meaningless ritual. The church I attend now has it once a month, and I appreciate the meaning behind it a lot more.

I think it should be done every Sunday, cause all followers do not take it once a month cause of their sin doing the week. This will help the christians to follow the lord more honestly.

According to Catholic rules one should take communion as often as possible. They are only required to have communion on Christmas and especially Easter. Don't know what the rules are for other Christian religions.

As a Catholic, I take part in the eucharist (aka communion) every chance I get. I do it weekly, at least. Sometimes I get the chance to go to daily mass.
Communion is a special thing, where you get to touch Christ in the person and, quite literally, accept Him into yourself. Never deny yourself the opportunity to do that, if you find yourself worthy.
Now protestants have 'communion' and say it is just blessed bread. Heck, I have this every time I say grace over my sandwich.

Jesus told us to do this in remembrance of Him. I am not legalistic about this, but my Church takes communion once a month. And I think that is good.

I like it every week - but only if the church properly reverences it.
Once a month is OK too - I would not want to be in a church that does it less than that. To do it less implies that it's not important - and since Jesus instituted that sacrement it should be honored and practiced.
