after he graduates from basic training does that mean that he can stay with me, or does he have to go back to base at curfew?

A weekend pass lasts the weekend. If he has to go back to post, then it's a day pass, not a weekend pass.

A weekend pass means he does not have to come back until the pass is over. So he will be able to stay with you.

For Navy basic training they must be back on base every night by a certain time (I dont remember exactly when, its been a while.) but they will be able to spend all day with you.

In the US Air Force.
He will have to be back at the barracks by 10 pm.
Sorry, he won't be able to spend the night.

most likely scenario is he will have to be back on base by a certain time each night.

it means he only has the day. He has to go back for accountability issues. make good use of your time.
