King James "commissioned the translation" of the Bible into the English language. Basically, his choice of words.

The Bible has also been translated by Catholics who were never followers of King James or any other Protestant church. The Catholic version with the exception of a small handful of books in the Old Testament is virtually the same. Whether other religions choose to accept the idea, the Catholic Church compiled the books of the New Testament and considers itself the 'keeper of the Bible'. The Jews compiled the Old Testament from the Pentateuch forward. And others such as Jehovah's Witnesses translated the Bible again. Mormons on the other hand found the Book of Mormon to complement the Bible.

The Bible was originally written in a couple different languages. If I'm not mistaken in my history, King James was the first English King to have it all translated into one language and made available for anyone in that country to read. Since a large portion of emigrants came from England, you will find it in the King James version. There is also the American version, which translates into moderan American spoken English. But you can also find it published in almost every spoken language around the world, today. In order to read the original books, you must be able to understand and read different languages. But you must remember one thing, some languages do not have words in them that can be spoken in just one word of English, so sometimes extra wording had to be added to get the explanations of the wording to be understandable in the English language. I understand that in some other languages the same exact words can and is used.

I don't read the King James Version. This is a tunnel vision statement of Christianity.

The versions I read (NIV, NCV) are translated from the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. Thus, they are not in King James' personal translation.

You need to study your history a little more. Christians are not following the word of King James. It is not his choice of words.
JESUS is our way to the Kingdom.

Yes, the word "witch" appears several times in the King James Bible because he apparently was paranoid of them (he burned thousands of women accused of being witches during his reign). He was also bi-sexual.

Christians follow the Christ who saved them from their sins & healed them. Jesus promised the Comforter, who is with us forever & leads us in the truth of the Holy Bible.
