When you have pets and want to add a new one, you should always acclimate them slowly to each other to avoid these problems. Keep the new kitty in a quiet room for a few days, and just let them smell each other under the door. Go in and pet the new kitty, then come out and let your older kitty smell the other cat on you. You can swap them out sometimes too, letting the new kitty out to explore, and keeping the older one in the quiet room, so they can adjust to each other's scents. After a couple days of this, let them have supervised visits, but break them up again as soon as they start to fight. When they get where they groom each other, or where they can eat out of each others' dishes without fighting, then they'll start to bond and be friends.
Some cats never do really like to have other cats around. My big girl, Mika, is very jealous of Tonks. But they get along OK except after Tonks has been to the vet. Then we have to acclimate all over again.

Yes yourkitten is in heat. I have known kittens as young as 4 months to come on heat. The vet will not be able to desex her until she is 6 mths old. Whatever you do - don't let her out as she will mate and get pregnant. It really is too young for her to have a litter and if you choose to have a litter aborted and a desexing at the same time it will cost you 2-3 times as much as a standard desexing. Male kittens don't tend to show any interest in mating so young.

we're going through a similar situation at my house at the moment a 8 week old male kitten vs. 3 5 week old male kittens. unless they start to draw blood just let them duke it out between them. best case scenario (and one you should hope for) they're playing with each other and as for worse case scenario they're seeing who is the pushover and who is the dominant kitten. as soon as they know where the other kitten stands they'll get along although fur will fly from time to time (such as breakfast) they can't be friends all the time :)

What LH said is fine for adult cats, but you have two babies. and they don't have to "readjust" to another feline.
They are playing together...... as do all kittens and some adult cats. Sometimes it can sound as if they are fighting, but all will be fine. If you are concerned about injuries, cut the sharp tips off their claws (they are like needles)

They are probably just playing. If one cat gets objective about the playfighting, they would just get up and leave. If there was a problem, one of them would hiss and act really angry (like its facing a dog).
Unless they are acting like the above, I would say leave 'em and let them have their fun :)
Cats are tougher than you think...

don't worry; they're playing or just sorting out who's going to be the alpha male. cats rarely hurt each other. they'll be good buddies within a week or so.

They are probably just playing, and if they get a little rough, give them some time to bond :)
