The bad news...
You are probably going to get a bit more short-sighted until you stop growing, somewhere between 18-22 years of age.

There are a few things that can help.
Keep your reading distance long: don't let your head get close to a book, screen or what you're writing.
Break away from reading and computer screens every 1/2 hour to refocus in the distance.

*Some* seeming short sight is down to the eyes jamming into reading mode. Relaxation exercises can help with this *if* it is present. Simple ones using physiological diplopia are fine(1).
Beware the "snake -oil salesmen" who maintain they can cure everything with exotic exercises.

(1)e.g. Hold a pencil at arm's length. Look at a clear vertical object in the distance (church tower?), and line up the pencil with it. You should either see two pencils or two towers.
Concentrate on one til it's single. The other will go double if you are using two eyes. Jump to the double object and get that clear. Repeat a few times, ending up on the distant object. See if that's helped. If it has, there was a some degree of ciliary spasm, "cramp", present.

Ahhhh...adolescence. Its a tumultuous time in your life. Hormones are going crazy and everything is growing and changing - to include your eyes.

Chances are that nearsightedness must run in your family and you've been lucky to have escaped it so far. There really is nothing you can do, I'm afraid. If you're involved in sports, soft contacts would be the way to go. They make sports goggles, but to be honest, they just aren't very fashionable. Soft contacts are very comfortable and very versatile and perfect for wearing during just about any sports activity, short of swimming. And for swimming, you could have swimming goggles made up.

You can expect your eyes to go through some pretty drastic changes over the next several years, until puberty has passed and the hormones settle down again. You will most likely have a change in your prescription every year, sometimes more often than that. And they don't always get worse...sometimes they go backwards a little bit. But, rest assured - its normal for teens to go through this. I know, it sucks...but there really isn't a whole lot you can do.

Wish I had better news for you. Once your an adult and your eyes have stablilized, you can look into having LASIK (laser surgery) to correct your vision. But that won't be an option until you're at least 18.

I started with -2.00 when I was 14 and now I am 23 and at -5.25! Lasik is generally cheaper for such a low correction... somewhere around $299 per eye. For me it is $899+ per eye.

There really isn't anything you can do to fix your eye sight. Like it was mentioned earlier, you may just be getting some kind of growing issue that is effecting your eye sight.

Get contacts, they are much better than glasses especially if you play sports. I got hit in the face with every kind of ball in school when I was wearing glasses. They are annoying... I only wear mine at night.

By the way, both of my parents have 20/20.

Be happy that you have as good of eyesight as you do. I am 23 and my glasses are a -4.00, I used to work in a lab and made glasses for a living, and there were 70-80 year old men and women who have better eyesight than me!! Contacts are not that bad, but I wouldnt suggest them unless you really feel like you need them, because they are kind of a hassle.

If you apply a white or light glittery color in the inner corner of your eyes that will make them look bright er and more awake. Using eyeliner on the top and bottom lid also help to emphasize the eye. Just don't go too dark!! Then it just looks scary! lol

You cant cure what damage you already have but you can prevent it from worsening over the years by wearing your glasses at all times and getting your eyes tested every 2 years.

1. Someone in your family could have bad eye sight.

2. Puberty. It will effect everything including your eye sight.
They will probably stop changing once you hit your early 20's. This is normal.
