I have noticed that there isn't a question that the Bible hasn't answered.

Like "may I have lustful sex with my wife?" You would answer "The Bible says that it is OK to have sex in the bonds of marriage"

or "How do you create a man out of dust?" You would say"read the Bible, its in there."

or "Is homosexuality a choice?" you would say "The Bible says it is an unforgivable sin"

You Christians do have your bases covered.

Dear JimBob from 'Bama',

The Bible does not answer every question. Nor does it claim to.

The Bible teaches us everything God wants us to know as to how to have a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible does indeed teach us a lot about life and teh choices that we make in life, but the Bible never claims to answer every question. In fact some of the wisdom books (like Proverbs and Ecclesiastes) teaches us that there are things in life that we may not ever understand.

Sometimes the Bible tells us things but doesn't always explain them to the detail. So some things -- if you study the context of the passage and the culture you can surmise- while other things- you just have to accept you don't have the answer for.

Some of your examples above are misquoted- the Bible says the only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that God created man out of dust- and breathed life into Him. i don't understand the fullness of that- but i know when i die my body will eventually decay and i'll be dust again.

In terms of having lustful sex with your wife... the Bible is clear that it's a healthy thing to desire your wife- and sex is a part of any healthy marriage.

The Bible teaches a lot of principals as well that you can apply to the individual situation. But the Bible never claims to answer every question and as someone who has taught the Bible for 15 plus years now, i can say that there are times when there are questions that the Bible doesn't answer.

Kindly,

Nickster

No, the Bible does not answer 'every' question. How The examples you raised mostly came from people who do not pay attention to how they interpret the Bible. These people provide an answer (ie. "it is an unforgivable sin") without thinking deeper. For example, nowhere in the Bible did it say that homosexuality is a sin. The historical context does not support it because the concept did not exist before and during the scriptures were written. But with our preoccupation with "heterosexuality vs. homosexuality", we are all prone to imposing our context onto any historical text.

The Bible has the answers to the important questons like " How can I get to heaven after I have broken almost all ten commandments?" The answer, Acts 2:19 "repent and turn to God that your sins may be wiped out." If it's a question about your algebra home work, you need to ask your math teacher.

No...they're not good answers to most questions... However... I feel compelled to bonk you on the head with the tattered remains of "The Original King James Version of the Bible," that I was forced to purchase as the only Textbook for a required upper division superfluous English Class elective that I was also forced to attend because (although I had the required number of semester units to graduate...I needed 3 more units of THAT category in order to get my B.A. in Journalism & English, without having to take Summer School or one more damn semester of college, and so I DID take that class, because after 6 years of this bowl sheet, just get me the flyin' Shrek out of here in May, or I'll be forced to become a very bitter food service employee with no hope for the future, and I know the world would not want THAT to happen...if ya catch what I'm ranting here... Thank you...I hope this helped...and...Doop! (Notice I didn't say..."And God Bless..." but just in case I didn't answer your question...here's a Bible quote for ya'...) "And when the baby Jesus was born...He spoketh... ...Burp!"

Your questions are irrelevant. God only wants to love you and to be loved by you. It is when you follow and love God when the do's and don'ts of the Bible actually "answer" your questions. If you don't love God and follow Jesus Christ, then what does it matter. Does the Bible answer every question. NO. There are some things God doesn't want us to know. As a christian, my bases are covered, but are yours? I am not perfect or sinless, I am only forgiven.

I believe that God in his wisdom has placed answers in the Bible that pertain to the issues of life.....Some seek wisdom and guidance from it,other shun it and prefer to pursue their own path....It really is that simple
