assume that so serious a task as universal creation was undertaken by a God who didn't even know the world wasn't flat.?

I often chuckle to my self when I read or hear someone telling about the nature of God in a manner only a small child could accept as realistic, and in the same breath declare it the only truth.

I find it difficult to understand your comment about God not knowing the world wasn't flat. What makes you think that was the case?

But to get back to your real question, keep in mind that religious texts, whether it be the Bible, the Koran or any other, all of them were written by and interpreted by man, not by God. I sincerely believe the concepts put forth are from our creator, but the words, the interpretations and the necessary actions to accomplish God's will I believe come from mankind.

I have a very personal relationship with God and trust Him totally...so when I read something in my religious text (teaching tool), I ask Him to give its meaning to me. He always does. Sometimes my own interpretation turned out to be correct...other times, I was wrong.

I think you are being a bit over critical here.

For most of human history, the vast majority of people were not very sophisticated, in fact could not read or write. Simple stories, told in an uncomplicated way, made it easier for them to understand complex matters.

As well, for many people, religious questions were matters that were the province of the powerful and wealthy. Tney were shut out of anything to do with decision making in their churches, and so relished the stories that came to them of the 'ordinary' and 'human' nature of the saiunts and holy people, and indeed of the gods.

Hindus tell many stories about the childhood of Lord Vishnu (apolgies if incorrect spelling) and Christians enjoy tales of the childhood of Jesus ~ innocent stories which remind people of the beauty of childhood and the happiness they themselves experienced as a child.

Mary is beloved by Catholic women because she represents the ordinary everyday concerns a mother has, and because they can recognise the terrible pain a woman would endure to see her own child so harshly treated and be unable to prevent it.

My personal view is that people have created god in their own image, to help them through the trials and hardships of life, and while I despise those who use their religion as a weapon to harm others, for many good and decent people these 'juvenile' stories are the things that have given them hope and courage when times are hard.

Best wishes :-)

You are basing your bad comments against God from what you have heard but not of what you have read yourself. If you will only read the bible and do understand it, you can conclude that it was stated therein that the earth is round. God may forgive you of your bad comments against him. You fell like more intelligent than our God who is the most powerful.

Well done.
Written by many different men with different agendas....
But our creation as a being is probably alien-related....

We ARE TOLD TO LEARN ( OR, TO RE-LEARN) TO APPROACH GOD WITH THE INNOCENCE, AND BELIEF/FAITH STRENGTH "OF A CHILD"---NOT LETTING OUR ADULT "MIND-GARBAGE" TO COME BETWEEN US AND HIM!!!!

" Juvenile " was the key word there.
