When said parent did not raise the child in any form of spirituality?

sounds like they must be against the idea of religion. I can't blame them, but it is your choice. not theirs.
They can tell you their opinion but should allow you to make up your own mind.

you want to condemn your child for choosing a spiritual path? if so it is not your child that has problems, it is you. take me for example, i am a rebel girl with everything going for me, and yet i still make bad decisions and i am not on any spiritual path right now-lol! my parents only wish-so be glad, you're lucky!

For the same reason you'd be disapointed if they fell for the Nigerian money scam. They should have known better. I don't care if you want to call it spirituality, I'm calling it a scam.

They can't. As the twig is bent ...so grows the tree. Or in this case...if the twig is left to bend to the winds, no one can know where it will end up.

Parents have problems too. The important part is to be respectful and accepting and they may come around.

a parent cannot do that. well they can, but they should not. it is the child's own decision. my parents didn't...but they aren't very religious anyway.

The parents out of ignorance and unbelief like St Paul who said I persecuted the church of GOD (referring to the church of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) because of ignorance and unbelief should stop, look and listen in the meantime. However, everyone of these churches are true church as all belong to the one body of Christianity or the Christian religion. In Rev 1:10 and Rev 1:20 THE LORD GOD is holding the seven churches.They were the seven churches in Asia MInor (now Turkey) put up by the apostles of the LORD JESUS CHRIST after 4BC that is after HE ascended to heaven. The seven churches being in the hand of GOD show that all these seven churches are united and are one in the hand of GOD. 1ST is the Ephesus Church, now the hebrew oriented churches under the laws, tithes, sabbaths, etc. They worship GOD as FATHER- ABBA. This relationship is between the FATHER AND THE PRODIGAL CHILDREN. They are the right hand of the christian body. The 2nd is the Smyrna church now the Mormons. They worship GOD as THE LAMB OF GOD. They are the life of the body. This relationship is between the MEEK GOD called THE LAMB OF GOD and the meek men called the Saints The 3rd is pergamus church now the born again and fundamentalist. They are the mouth of the christian body. They worship GOD as the MAN-GOD -LORD JESUS CHRIST. This relationship is between the MAN-GOD AND MEN to prove that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST was a historical man. The 4th is the thyatira church now the Protestant and anglican churches. They are the eyes and feet of the Christian body. They worship GOD as THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. This relationship is between the POWERFUL GOD and the powerful men. The 5th is now the monks, scholars, scientology, prophets.They are the head and mind of the Christian body. They worship GOD who is the ALFA AND THE OMEGA. This relationship is between the HIGHEST AMONG THE PROPHETS and the prophets. The 6th is the Philadelphia now the miracle workers. They are the heart of the body. They worship GOD as the BRIDEGROOM and relationship loving faithfully HIS wife as a bride eternally. The 7th is the laodicia now the Catholics, Ecumenical Church and the Eastern othodox church. They worship GOD called EMMANUEL-GOD IN THE SPIRIT, as they are also the majority parts of the Christian body and thus, are everywhere. All these seven churches are imperfect churches except the Philadelphia church made perfect by THE LOVE OF GOD. Today, they are divisive because of Satan's deception of divide and conquer. Physically today, they are the seven churches on Earth. In 4BC, they were the seven churches in Asia. In the HAND OF GOD thus, being perfect, they are the seven churches in the spirit. In the coming reign of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, they will be called THE SEVEN CHURCHES OF GOD AND OF CHRIST. Additionally, the GOD worshipped by these seven churches are all the titles of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST as ABBA-EVERLASTING FATHER; THE LAMB OF GOD; THE WORD OF GOD; THE KING OF KINGS; THE ALFA AND THE OMEGA; THE BRIDEGROOM AND EMMANUEL.
