Recently I joined a local gym with the goal to gain muscle mass. I've been working out for a month now and asked a big guy in the gym what supplements i should considered taking. He told me I should go buy a tub of lard and eat it twice a day. He didnt give me a lot of information because he was busy working out. What exactly is Lard? Where can I get it?

You must have asked me... anyways you want to find the best type of lard that you can get (definately organic and possibly grassfed also so as to have a better Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio). Lard contains two huge bodybuilding materials vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin D3, which is essential for muscle and body growth and development. Vitamin A is only found in animal sources... plants contain the precursor, which through a faulty thyroid function (as most Americans are overweight and have an underactive thyroid) does not convert into vitamin A effeciently. If you are to consume this lard consume it during the meal you are eating. If you want to get big like that guy you asked you probably want to consume around fifty percent of your daily calories from high quality fats that are preferable organic or and grassfed (ie lard, high vitamin butter oil, cod liver oil, some olive oil, a little flax oil, and various cuts of meat). If you want to learn more about what he was talking about go to westonaprice.org. If you just want the frickin lard (grassfed) go to grasslandbeef.com. I could go on but you probably don't want me to.

Lard is the fatty substance acquired from animals. I'm not sure how healthy it is for you to eat but by the sounds of it it doesn't sound healthy to eat a tub of fat on any occasion let alone before a work out.
Consult your local nutritionist for more information.
