I want to do my living room in safari like elephants and tigers...stuff like that and I need help choosing a color to paint it. I'm also painting my daughters room and the theme is "disney princess." Should I paint it pink or white? My bathroom is going to be done in palm trees and I was thinking like a sage green. I need help deciding what color to paint my kitchen which is going to be done in "roosters" and my bedroom and thats still undecided. What do you think? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

WOW... nothing like over-doing u'rself. U sound like me sometimes. lol

LR---- safari... how creative r u? Can u draw or were u aiming for the wildlife prints? Which is idea. U can take prints down to u'r local printer..Kinko, etc & they can blow it up. Explain to them what u r doing so they don't copy it on paper that the ink would smear when u put it on the wall. Paint the jungle around it. I would choose 1 wall w/ the wildlife going on so u don't over-power the room. So depending on u'r furniture, that will determine u'r walls. So think safari colors... jungle green, deep green, med green, mud, dirt, tans, beiges.. If u'r going to the wildlife & trees on one wall .. mayb go w/ a tans then throw in accents colors of the different greens/browns. U can get fleece material in zebra & cut out a desgin that would like it's pellet for a rug or throw. If u have frames on u'r walls or shelves.. paint one of u'r accent colors on them.

Disney Princess --- pinks/purples/white/fairy dust/poss some lt greens..lt blues... again it depends on the coverings. Did u get the design of the Disney Princess for covers & curtains or were u jst using that theme? If u have the covers & curtains... the take anthr color in the design b/c I'm sure pink is the main color & go w/ that on the walls OR a darker color of the pink OR u can do a wash. If u'r walls r white to begin w/ then glaze down pink paint & wash it over the walls for that airy effect. If u want to break that up w/ more solid colors then paint solid stars near the top of the wall or 1 or 2 thick stripes as a border. U can even get molding or wood.. smooth it down & drill holes in & put pegs/dowels/hooks/dowels w/ wooden balls or decorative item on the end for her to hang her clothes up.

Bathrm --- palm trees... r u painting them or decopage them on? I agree w/ the sky if u'r going for the beach theme. If u'r jst going for Palm trees... then how bout a a lt. tan faded into a lt blue.. so it looks like sand & sky. Again.. if it's the beach theme... use seashells for door knobs.. light fixture covers....or if u'r leaning more towards jst the palm trees then how bout bananas or coconuts.. or paint a hamcock to relax on... u could do the theme from that movie that Tom Hanks was in where he was trapped on island.. ( jst a thot)

Kitchen-- Roosters... blue/gold/red/brown/oranges.. So r u doing jst roosters for a theme or French which rooseters r a part of their decor? If u want more soft, then go w/ lt golden yellow or lt green or for more BOLD... sunflower yellow, med-to deep red... paint it the same color but different hues of that color on different walls. Add the other colors as accents.. If u'r leanin more towards the French.. then more colbalt blues..

U'r Room---- from that... look around u'r room. What is something u like in u'r room? If u have a bed cover then go from a color in that or even u'r curtains/valances... or a pillow or rug... or even a picture. U can do 2 colors then accent w/ a 3rd or 1 color & bedcover in anthr...furniture anthr. Make sure u take in account for all these things the appliances/furniture in the rooms. Will they go w/ the colors u'r usin? Would u b willing to paint them an accent color?

My suggestion to u... TAKE ONE ROOM AT A TIME. or u'll OVERWHELM u'rself. Start w/ that ROOM & THAT room ONLY! paint/decor/accessorize it then move on to the next.

go to paint store & get several of the same samples that u like for that ONE room... put on the walls & look at it thru out the day w/ the different times of lights from day to nt & indoor lts. Then choose.

One room! Be creative! Have fun!

OH my gosh. Safari? I suggest not getting one of those fuzzy throw blankets they sell on vacant lot street corners. If you really, really want to go with the safari theme I'd paint the walls straight up GOLD. I mean, at that point why hold back? For the daughters room - again with the cliche? I don't want to be mean, but that's not very original. Why not something a little less trendy, but still timeless, like flowers or butterflies, that you can get more creative with? I'd go with a nuetral in the kitchen so aren't stuck with anything when you decide to go from roosters to cows. For the bedroom you can borrow my room's theme which is upscale pirates (think upscale Carribean tropical feel with tasteful pirate pieces like bronze statues and ornate skulls with framed classical pirate paintings. Good luck.

1] living room - paint it a color that shows off the animal tones. Try caramel walls, black or elephant print or tiger print
furniture, and a 'tiger' rug. You could get prints of different safari animals tor the walls, and pillows in tiger, elephant,
giraffe,or cheetah.
2] bedroom - buy the princess stuff [ bedding, or border ] and pick the lightest color for her walls [ such as pale pink ].Then add a border, and bedding/drapes in one of the darker tones
[ blue, lavender ]; or buy princess bedding and drapes, use the lightest pink for walls, and paint the princesses 'portraits' on the walls! Be sure to add your daughter's princess picture as well.
3] bathroom - usually, the background for palm trees is: sky [ light blue ], sea [ teal or ocean blue ] or sand [ light golden beige ].
4] kitchen - since the colors most frequently used for roosters are reds, golds, and greens, use those colors throughout your kitchen. Paint walls pale gold, and add red or green curtains, placemats; and try to get as much rooster in there as you can! Canisters, salt/pepper, napkin holder, trivets, potholders, and all the stuff you leave out all the time.
5] master bedroom - pick your favorite color, your husb. favorite color, and a third both of you like. Try toget a print with all three in it for bedding, and drapes.
Example: you choose lavender, he chooses blue, and you both like green. After you get a print with all three colors,
paint the walls lavender, put a blue rug on the floor, and get throw pillows in the print or in lavender, blue, and green.
add other accessories in these colors [ lamp, shades, candles, a chair, a painting, etc. ]

maybe your daughters room could be like white and light pink stripes!!
for your bathroom you could do a sage green.. or a light light brown so it doesnt make your room feel small!! or you could also do a light yellowish gold!!
for your kitchen maybe you could do a yellowish gold if you dont do yuor bathroom that.. or you could do both! if you like red you could do that too! or green is good too!
good luck!!

Try no more than 3 or maxx 4 colors
maybe you can play with little details color (and pictures or wood forms or else) for each specific room........

Do some practice first.................and when your ideas are clear go ahead.................

Small Details are the big differents
