Yes if she is in otherwise good health?
some vets would say wait , but they can get pregnant or become in heat at age 4 months.
How old is she now?
At our local Angels of Assisi's clinic for animals spay/neutered pets at age 12-wks or 3 to 4'lbs given they are in good health!
Course they evaluated them first!

YOu can call your local Angels of Assisi clinic or Vet!!

Yes. Size doesn't matter--it is the experience and qualifications of the vet. Don't go to a low cost clinic--risks are much higher. A good vet will do an exam, bloodwork, IV catheter, IV fluids, modern safe anesthetics, pain medication, use monitoring equipment for blood pressure, oxygen and heartrate, have a CVT monitoring the patient, use heating pads, etc. We spay 1 lb. ferrets, so size is not an issue--safety is. No surgery for any pet or person is 100% guaranteed risk free, but there is much that can be done to lessen the risks.

Hi! I have 3 Chis that are under 3lbs and one who is just above one pound. The 3 all got spayed and neutered with no problem. I am waiting on my lil one pounder to get a lil bit older before she goes in. She is already at 6 months but at a pound I just want to be safe. Just be sure to make your concerns clear to the vet and everything should go great. Just have faith in your vet and their abilities and all will be okay IF your vet is a qualified one. Dont skimp on your babies health. How old is your lil one?

I was the same wau. I had a 3 lb chi and was terrified that she would not survive the anestheia. She came thru the operation with flying colors. It took me 3 yr to decide to do it....lol I know someone who had their 2.5 lb chi spayed and she did okay too. I suggest you go ahead and have it done. Oh and I had my 2.5 lb male chi neutered about 2 weeks ago and he also did fine.

Yes, definitely spay her, if your vet thinks it is unsafe, he would inform you. Even a 3lb. Chihuahua is able to be spayed, size shouldn't affect it at all. Spay her, you don't want any unnecessary puppies.

You haven't mentioned how old she is. I think you should, because female dogs go into heat pretty soon, and then face all kinds of problems. Besides, spaying increases their expected social life by a couple of years so go ahead. Contact your vet for further details.

It is safe and YES you should have it done. Dogs can have all kinds of problems from not being spayed (cancer for one). Also, your dog is tiny and it could have problems if you bred it or if it "accidently" got pregnant. The benefits far outweigh the risks.

Yes it would be safer for her to be spayed than risk pregnancy or being pursued by male dogs when she is in heat.

It is a lot safer to fix them than not to it could cause serious health problems if you don't.
