Yep, the bar spacing is too large. You really need to get a different cage. It is VERY dangerous to allow them to fit their heads between the bars. Many, many birds have died that way. Large cages are great to offer your bird, but make sure that it's appropriate in every way, especially with bar spacing.

One of my parakeets was an escape artist. Sadly, it proved to cause his death. He could open his cage door, and they can squeeze through places, you would not believe. Actually I call him a he, it was actually a female and small. She wasn't feeling well, and I put her in another room for the night, that I though would be warmer, and she didn't want to stay, so I closed the door, but left it open just a crack. My husband got up to the bathroom, and usually he came into the kitchen to get a drink of water, that morning, he didn't. My bird got out of his cage, out of the room and flew against the refrigerator in the dark. I heard her scream twice, jumped up and could not find her, found her in front of the fridge, with a broken neck. Broke my heart, I will tell you. Buy a parakeet cage, don't take chances. Breaks my heart still, just to think of it.

You need to change his cage. Fitting their heads through the bars can cause them strangulation. Your bar spacing is too wide & completly unsafe for your birds.
