I try but I just feel like I'm shouting and I don't wanna hurt my vocal cords. Seriously, how do I add power? Is it just using your chest voice or what?

Thanks!

as the others have already said, proper breathing is the best way to begin. However, it's not as easy as all that. You'll need to learn about some of the other muscles in your abdomen and back- it's not just the diaphragm that's involved.
While jogging and swimming are excellent for all around health, leg-lifts are more to the point for the abs. Yup, those flash little muscles the guys love to show off are very much in the game for singers.
the whole idea of breath support is to build up a sense of solidity and stability in your body so that the delicate ( but resilient) muscles in your throat can do the job they were built to do without interference or undo tension.
Power and volume are factors of breath support, so you need to start with the basics before you get to the advanced chapters.
I recommend you find a singing teacher who will be very helpful in getting this oh-so-important first step learned properly.
Best wishes and keep on singing

It is said to breath with your diaphram. That's the muscle that lets you fill your lungs with air.I would suggest running jogging,to expand your lungs .With every four steps you take breath out and the next breath in.This is what I do,but you may have smaller lungs for thisso try a rhythm that your comfortable with. Then work up to longer breaths.Other than this, remember when you sing the feeling of the song and bring it out of yourself.Really feel it as if you are experiencing it.Don't think of your throat as much as your lower abdominals.Hope this helps you and sing you pretty bird sing!

If you want to "belt" and "wail", you should first get a few voice lessons. You could seriously harm your vocal cords by attempting things like this without expert advice.

Swimming is better than jogging. So is playing a wind instrument, like the flute.
