Believers say that the Bible is unchanged, but isn't that the whole point. The world has changed and the bible is stuck in the past. Which would you rather have, a doctor of today or a doctor of 2,000 years ago. Beliving in the bible is seeing the world like those who lived 2,000 years ago. How can this be helpful to our survival as a species.

I am praying for you my friend...but I am not sure what you mean...the Bible is the world's most translated book. He did give the gift of tongues for missionaries to spread the Word, and He protected the Holy Scriptures from being adulterated in the translations. The Bible we have today is over 95% correct compared to the earliest manuscripts we have. That's more accurate than anything written by Homer, or any of the Roman histories, or ANY ancient text. There are also more existing early manuscripts of both the Old Testament and New Testament than ANY other ancient text--even the works of Shakespeare. Sounds to me like He knew EXACTLY what He was doing...
But don't take my word for it...Check out the book "The Case For Faith" by Lee Stroebel. It is well documented and pokes hard questions at leading Biblical scholars as well as leading astrophysicists, archealogists, and philosophers. Read it, and I think it will answer many questions. It did for me.

Yes there was a lot lost in translating. namely, the truth. No one language can be translated to another perfectly. But theres a lot of good Hebrew / Greek dictionary's that can help one to know what the Bible is saying. Just takes a little time and work. Don't trust a theology theory, as there are many theologians who can't agree with one another. Why do you think there are so many different denominations of Christianity ? Also, when studying the Bible / with a good dictionary, say a prayer to God for help in understanding,

The old testament was written in Hebrew as that was the language of "His people" the Jews. Nothing is lost in the translation from Hebrew to other languages that would change the true meaning of the word. When the Jews made new copies of the scriptures they would not tolerate the slightest error or mistake. When the "Dead Sea Scrolls" were discovered in 1947 they were compared to our current scriptures and were found to be identical. The New Testament was written in Greek and Aramaic to the people of the time of Christ and the believers were commissioned to "go into all the world and preach the gospel" this includes taking and sharing God's Word. We then saw the Word go to Latin and in later years to many many other languages. I appreciate your search for truth. If it is of man you cannot be guaranteed it is true, if of God you can trust it with your soul! Eternity is forever, the question is where will your soul spend it? Choose Christ and you choose Life Eternal, reject Him and it is separation from God and Heaven for Eternity. Cheers!

You can ask why til you are blue in the face....God is a almighty , all knowing deity, his ways are not our ways..and we want know why until we go to Heaven. And the Devil is the main reason for the confusion, and the weakness of humans to have faith and believe in God. And when I was 10, I thought 20 was old then when I turn 20 I thought 30 was old and had a very bad time with that birthday..40 has passed and next month I'll be 53....it doesn't feel old.....time was made for the human body because of Adam disobeying God ...and God said if you partake of the fruit you will die, and we have all been dying since.....but our time on this earth is so very short....... but if you want to know about him you will have to seek him, he said seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened unto you....how hard are you knocking.

The Bible concepts were from God, but the book itself was written by man...and unfortunately interpreted by man. If ten people read the Bible, you will get ten different interpretations. The key word in your question is "allow". Because God made us free to choose, He does allow each of us to seek his truth...through Him. Some do...some don't. You must have a personal relationship with God in order to interpret the writings according to his leadership....not learn about God through another man's opinion of what the Bible says...and then try to fit your faith to that mold. Seek God first...and everything else will fall into place.

He has made sure with each generation that the word was given to the people of that generation. What book do you know that is that old and been translated by so many to help others understand it. God keeps giving us the truth but in a modern translation so you decide if he did not provide all that you said.

Purification is what is sometimes called salvation, meaning the spirit is freed from the imprisonment of material corporeality in which it is subject to pain. This does not mean the spirit is out of body, but rather, the spirit is made pure by the removal of external forces that made it forget its true nature. Purity is an idea, one very easy to imagine simply by examining the opposite of impurity. If impurity is imperfect, than purity is perfect. Purity is attained by relieving the soul of its mortal nature. If the soul is initially pure, then it can only become impure through contact with other impure things, for example, a person claiming that his body is who he is, rather than claiming that his true nature is an immaterial essence. And so purification depends on how we define ourselves, either as body and soul, body, or simply soul.

I can give you a rather outre and heretical explanation! The bible is not intended to be read and interpreted literally. It is, in fact, an esoteric manual which can be decoded in an infinite number of ways. It can be read superficially, of course, but it also contains a cipher (or code) Qabalistically. (Qabala is Jewish mysticism which, nonetheless, can be applied to Christianity/the New Testament and which is very complex and esoteric). The Bible is not meant to be understood easily nor by the masses in its intricacies but is intended to be inaccessible except to the enlightened.

In my entire life, I have never heard a good answer (from Christians) to this question.
Faith is not an answer. Other religions have just as much faith in their holy texts, does that make all of them correct?
