It depends on the branch of surgery and the type of practice you work in. Neurosurgeons, Cardiothoracic surgeons and Transplant surgeon tend to have busy lives with many unscheduled visits to the hospital at odd hours and long hours at surgery. Urologists and Plastic Surgeons have a much more controlled life. In terms of hours it could be anything from 50 hours a week to 100 hours a week (I assume you are talking about the US). I guess the typical trauma surgeon would fit in somewhere between those two extremes.

Naturally, your schedule will depend on what type of surgeon you are, your employer, and quite possibly, your experienc. Surgeons working in private practice can sometimes get away with only working a few hours, four days a week. On the other hand, some surgeons, if you include being on call, can work significantly more. So, ultimately, it depends on your situation.
