The best thing to do if a bear charges you is to stand still and hold your ground! If you were to run you would most definitely be killed , as you would have signaled to the bear by running that you are prey!! So if charged by a bear stand still and hold your ground! Experts say never look the bear in the eye, but talk in a firm semi loud voice while waving your arms!! This would be the perfect time to pray! Stand , hold your ground, wave your arms, and pray to God that the beast leaves to let you live another day!

Oh, this reminds me of the old joke my grandfather use to tell about the deacon (on his way to a revival)and the bear and how the deacon was running and praying and the bear kept slipping the closer it got, when one of the church members implied that it was the divine intervention of god that made the bear keep slipping the deacon replied that he knew nothing about that cause each time the bear got close he would sh*t his pants. So the joke was the bear was slipping in his sh*t. ( I hope this does not offend too much it is a really old joke.)

I would stop.... turn around and shoot the damn thing. I spend time in an area where the bear population is out of control.

Depends on what the bear had in mind, I guess. But in any case prayer probably won't work on those big hairy atheistic creatures.

I'm always the one doing the chasing, so I wouldn't know. They're pretty mellow animals, they prefer to run rather than fight. I just wish they would stay out of my garbage, man.
