the company says this candy is called lifesaver because of its hollow center that prevents the choking hazard. how accurate is this? can you choke on a lifesaver?

well I know that i have choked on them more then once!! Actually my sister had to do the Heimlich maneuver because i was sucking on it and it went down!! I was crying for like a hour afterwards and I havent eatened a life saver ever since!!

yes it is possible to choke on a lifesaver. If it gets lodged the wrong way...verticale vs. horizonally in your air pipes. Also some people air passage ways can actually close around a life saver, making the hole useless.

Yes, actually, my first aid instructor told us a story of HER choking on a life saver candy. The hole did help breathe a little bit, but she still choked on it and had to have the heimlich done on her.

the point of putting the hole in the center was so you would not suffocate. you'll still be choking, you'll just have enough time to get to the hospital with out dying. =]

Haha Actually i have a green jelly one !! I was in the car and didn't have water so I had to go into a restaurant and order a bottle of water and they were looking at me like I was CRAZY ! haha It's pretty funny in an ironic way LOL !

You can still choke even with the hole in the middle. It could get stuck upright and then the hole would do nothing.

yes, you can choke on a life saver, it may not kill you but cause an aspiration pneumonia which can kill you.
