I found 2 kittens (sisters) on my doorstep meowing and scratching at the door a month ago. One ran away but the other stayed. This Monday the one that stayed is getting to live inside the house with us after her first visit to the vet. We had no clue where thay came from until now. A cat is living in our shed and KEEPS HAVING KITTENS!!! It just had its 3rd litter we think. It had three kittens this time and they are sooooo cute! We wanted to bring them somewhere but the kittens aren't old enough to leave their mother. We think once the kittens are old enough they'll leave. But what if they don't and the mother cat doesn't seem like she is going to leave anytime soon. You can't come anywhere near her. Should we block the way she comes in once the kittens are gone? I NEED HELP!!!!

Also I used to feed her when she was a kitten, but she didn't let you touch or come in20 feet of her. I just sat food and water out for her to eat. That was about 5-6 months ago and I only fed her for about 1-2 1/2 months ago. I guess she decided to come back.

I would say you may need to just wait for her to leave once her kittens are grown then block the entry where she is getting in. You can also call your local Animal Control and they can give you some assistance on that. Also, your local fire department will do favors like that for you to. I mean , they get cats out of trees for people--they will surely do that for you. Give one of these a try!!! Good luck!!

Once they kittens are old enough, around 4 wks or so they'll start to explore the world beyond their mom. But they should still be receiving her milk up to 8 wks. But what you should do if you want to help the situation, feed the mom (so her & her babies stay healthy, food & water). Then eventually see if you can get the mom to come out (she most likely will NOT let you near her because she's protecting the babies). Or try a cat trap...for the mom & the babies. You put food inside this trap-like cage and as soon as they walk in it shuts. The babies wouldn't set it off because so tiny but if you could trap the mom after 8 wks of nursing, you should have her fixed. It's not good for her to keep having litters. It's gonna be wear and tear on her. Fix her after 8 wks, try to grab the kittens and find them all good homes. Once all are out, and you're absolutely sure there are no other babies or cats there, then yes, block the way.

Good luck!

I agree about the humane trap. I think you should be able to get to the kittens in the shed. Many cat care societies will foster feral kittens to socialize them, so they can be adopted out. They MIGHT even be able to tame the mother, and find her a home. In the end, they'll live much happier, healthier lives if they can find a real, safe home.

If you can't touch her, you'll have to borrow a humane trap and trap her. Then take her to the animal control or shelter. Left on their own, the kittens, if they survive, will continue to breed. They will get parasites and diseases, starve to death, and be attacked by other animals or hit by a car. It is much more humane to take them to the shelter.

don't try to get her out yourself. you don't want to get scratched and she could be carrying something. id call the ASPCA and if they wont come get her then animal control. but id only call them as a last resort.
