The mormons in SLC. UT believe that the garden of eden is in missouri, thats were they think God will eventually call them to gather whe Jesus comes back again adn call themt o be polygamist again.
As for persistant, they need more money (the ten %) and they are afraid, liek christians that you are going to hades and they want everyone to go to their kingdom, even if its one of their kingdoms, either the Celestial, telestial or terrestial.
P.S. I can't get them to leave me alone. I was stupid when i was an atheist and gave them my name and they got my records from UT and now they won't stop sending me the next rotation of missionaries. Good luck, maybe you need to call the police. Or get a hold of their leader.

The simple answer is "that's what Joseph Smith taught". It doesn't necessarily reflect any biblical dcotrine, but does respond to early American folk tales about America was the original 'Promised Land' that somehow got vacated, then repopulated on three (and a half) separate occasions.

The missionaries training is not unlike the Terminators - they will not stop until you're baptized - file a complaint with the police. Then these two fellas might end up as someone's 'best special friend' in jail...That'll take some steam out of their testimony..

First I don't know where you got your information from but thats not true. We do believe that Jesus came to America after his resurrection. We only try to share the joy and love we feel from our heavenly father and want you to be able to experience this for yourselves. The missionaries are just doing what they know is right. They are probably ringing your doorbell but should not be calling you unless someone gave them your phone #. If you don't want to talk to them just politely tell them that you are not interested and they will probably leave you alone. But the missionaries do change every few months so you may have different ones coming to your door. They dont know that the other guy was at your door. I have been a mormom for 3 1/2 years and it has been the greatest blessing in my life. If you want to know about mormons go to www.lds.org. That is the church's official website. And as for the comment above mine thats not true either seeing that we dont believe in HELL. Look at the website.

The Mormon Bible is the only Bible to mention North and South America as such. But then, if God created everything, then who cares what temporary landmarks there are?

I was seeking and spent four months in a Mormon church environment. I found I did not believe in their version of the truth. Nice people though. That must be the message.

Be nice to each other out there.
