C.S. Lewis, Lee Stroebel, Alister McGrath etc were all atheists and then after examining the evidence gave their lives to God and followed Jesus... so have I !

Reasons for believing in God and following Jesus:
1) Studying the Bible and finding out that many of the deceptions about the accuracy were just that... deceptions!

2) See the changes in peoples lives that follow Jesus.

3) Seeing the changes in me and the results of prayers!

4) Studying science, archaeology , history etc. and realizing that there is enough coincidences that it makes there not being a God almost impossible.

"There is no incompatibility between science and religion... Science shows that God exists." - Prof. D. Barton, Nobel Prize Chemistry

"Truth is absolute and knowable and must be searched for diligently, but many will try to hide it, deny it or muddy it." - annon.

"Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it." - C.S. Lewis

The Bible says to follow Jesus not a particular minister etc. they are only human and salvation only comes throught following Jesus!

Since I am agnostic, obviously I have not reached a definitive conclusion either way. However, I have abandoned the religion to which I was exposed as a child because I am incapable of accepting concepts on faith, so I accept science's more logical explanations for the origin of the universe and for evolution as the modus operandi in it. However, I have also (contradictorily) "created" a god of my own for a story which I wrote, but he is a Magus and requires no adoration or worship although he is omnipotent and the Designer of the Cosmos, but by default because he knows not why he is Original Consciousness. I maintain that "Why?" is, in fact, the First Question and is unanswerable, and I have read that "Primal Cause is unknowable". I feel that my Atlantis novel may have been a memoir or a revelation, but, conversely, I am always a doubter, a questioner, and a skeptic as well as irreverent (most likely to be recognized as a heretic by the devout). I concede that I simply do not know the answer and that, if it exists, the answer is not so simple!

Hey there bro, Well I am a Muslim and I believe in Allah because after studying the Quran for 30 years and being born into a catholic home Islam was the only religion I couldn't find anything false in. The only thing that makes Islam look contradictory is the Media, and Muslim brothers and sisters out there who are angered and vengeful ( with reason) But, I just wish people would stop bashing Islam for the act of Muslims who use it in their own manner.

All religions are beautiful because they allow a person to live b a degree of morals and virtues. But I love Islam because even though I tried, I couldn't find the right in anything else.

Thanks for the post

peace

No such ingredient. An atheist believes in NO god/desses. that would comprise Allah,Ganesh, Kali, Isis, Thor, Gaia, Danu, and so on...maximum English speaking clientele are on right here and are raised Christian, yet i could say my morals & ideals are from a mix of empathy & society. i'm professional-determination, and so are many Xians and that i'm additionally vegetarian. The Bible is fairly contradictory. That finished 'no longer killing' ingredient? assorted Xians do no longer look to have a undertaking with production facility farms, the dying penalty or going to conflict. And in case you study the OT, you do no longer could bypass far to study some tale the place the 'chosen ones' are commanded to kill. There are over 30,000 Xian denom's accessible...there's a clarification why.

I was raised Christian, but have had doubts. Recently attended a Christian apologetics class, and reviewed the behavior of the apostles after the resurrection. It's hard to imagine all of them giving up everything to promulgate a lie. Most died martyr's deaths - they must have truly believed. Studying their faith has strengthened my own.

Still can't quite swallow 'young earth creationism,' but on the major questions - Is there a God? What does he want from us? I'm satisfied.

I'm an atheist, because it is apparent that there are no gods. There is just too much evidence that all gods that people believe in are man-made myths. You can look into their histories and look at human nature to see how they are made and believed in. On the other hand, there is just no evidence that any gods really exist.

I've been an atheist now for over 20 years, and I continue to learn more about religious belief. It is such a potent force in society that we really need to address its affect on society. And the more I learn about religion and human belief, in general, the more I see how religions start, are believed in and warp society. The harm that religion has had on society is overwhelming. I haven't seen a shred of evidence that this harmful superstition is based on anything real, just emotional attachment to an idea. A parasitic meme.

I am a christian God didn't call me. 'He came and got me.'
When I was at my worst he didn't give up on me. You see it was then that I was given this wonderful gift of poetry. Perhaps this poem from my book "The Voice In My Head", by H.L. Wright, will help to explain.

" I Didn't Hear Your Voice"

I didn't hear your voice
But the answers came from you
I didn't turn the knob
I didn't have the key
But when the time was right
Lord you opened the door for me

Being a christian isn't easy
But I weigh a whole lot less
Lord you lifted my burdens
and straightened out my mess

I couldn't see the light
until you opened my eyes
I didn't know where I was going
until you showed me the way
I didn't know how to get there
until you took my hand
You said, take this road my child
It leads to the promised land

I was losing control
I didn't know what to do
Lord I didn't hear your voice
But the answers came from you

I could not stop crying
You came and dried my tears
Shadows mocked and terrified me
It was you who calmed my fears
You taught me to believe
You said"Jesus I Must Recieve"
I didn't hear your voice
But one thing I know is true
When I get my directions, Lord
Every word comes straight from you

I was led to believe that God loves me through a combination of my parents, teachers (private Christian elementary education), and church leaders. Then later, as I grew older, I decided I like to question everything, so I did a bit of Biblical research on all sorts of topics, and re-confirmed to myself that God is GREAT.

My disbelief in God stems from two things:
1) Lack of evidence.
2) The fact that some of the most religious people in the world are also the most hypocritical and corrupt. I believe that if God did exist he would get his followers in line and encorage them to behave in a more tollerant and acceptable manner to other human beings.
