HELP! Microsoft Word wont allow me to open my document.. and I need it badly?

Question

Microsoft Word won't allow me to open my word document, when I was typing in the document, a message appeared telling me it could not be saved. Then the program closed, and now when I try to open the program, I get a box that opens and says Microsoft Word doesnt work but everything else on my flash drive is fine except for that document. When I try to open it in Wordpad, the end of the paragraph appears with a lot of codes and stars like & * *** ..... where all the words once were. Is there anything I can do to fix this, because I really need that document badly.

This: "everything else on my flash drive is fine" tells me you were trying to create or modify a document on your Flash drive. This almost never works reliably.

Create or modify a document on your hard drive, then copy it to your Flash drive.

It could be because you are using different versions of Microsoft word. Once I typed an essay at home on Microsoft Word 2007, brought it to school to print it...and couldn't because the school uses an earlier version.

My wager is that your .rfile software task replaced into replaced a approach or the different (via setting up OpenOffice or another workplace software). There may be a temporary file that was creates which causes the mess. Try restarting your PC and see if it works.
