Yes, Weight Watchers works if you follow the plan. Consumer Reports rated it as the second best weight loss plan available this year. You will probably benefit particularly from the social support that the meetings provide.
In general, you need to burn more calories per day than you consume. Weight Watchers can help you to do this. Remember that one pound = 3500 calories. So, if you eliminate 500 calories per day from your diet (through eating less and exercising), you will lose a pound per week.
You will definitely need to start doing some exercise in order to lose the weight, though. You might start by walking briskly around the track at your gym and see how that feels.
Good luck.

Yes, I think those weight watchers programs do work, but they cost a lot of money. I think if you just start eating healthier and exercising daily you will be able to lose the 60 lbs, but just give it some time.

You could try the liquid diet. I was forced to go on one when I first got my braces so I could not eat solid food for two weeks and I ended up losing 12 pounds in two weeks. If not you could always eat healthier portions. Eat a big breakfast that way you won't eat as much as the day goes on. Try walking for thirty minutes a day as well as lifting weights.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

yes. definitley join watchers. i joined back in october, but waited after the holidays to start my diet (so figure i started in early january) and i lost a lot of weight so far. just make sure you exercise a lot every single day! weight watchers makes really good food. i love their bars, ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, pretzels, oatmeal, and breakfast muffins. they also make tiny little dessert cakes (carrot, chocolate, or lemon) with a little bit of frosted icing on top. they are so good, with a value point of only 1 (80 calories). weight watchers has helped so many. it helped me and i know it will help you. it was the best decision i ever made in my life.
