My son just bought a house, he has new - mills pride - put together cabinets from Home Depot. They were on clearance which is why he made that pick. We have to work with clearance and discounted items, but what colors should we be looking for? He favors muted colors, sage green, burnt orange, sandstone.

Try terra cotta or a light ivory for the floors, depending on how big the room is.
Get a counter top with flecks of the maple 'color', other 'earth' neutrals [ beige, tan, caramel, chocolate ], the floor color, and ivory for the background.
Walls could be any color, but he'd probably like sage, with
burlap curtains, and burnt orange tiebacks?
Good luck, and have fun!
