I did AIT at Fort Huachuca. They have it pretty good there. You start out with very little freedom, but as you progress through your classes and as long as you do well and keep out of trouble, you will eventually be free to go out and have some fun. Fort Huachuca itself is not a big army post, but it's not a bad area. The town of Sierra Vista is ok and you are only about an hour from Tucson. I think you'll like it there ok.

Ft Sill!!! that is the one you want man. Aside from Benning it is the most demanding basic training. Males only.. no bullsh*t. People come out of Leonardwood and Jackson all chewed up. Not sure about Ft. Huachuca but a lot of my friends went there and liked it. It is a pretty central location.

I went to basic in Ft. Sill. HOT in summer and Windy and Cold in the winter. We had no females so we didn't have to listen to a bunch of whining. I think it's co-ed now. It was easy overall. Start to get into shape now.
