I'm so sorry about Dukey. Don't blame yourself, Dukey wouldn't want that. I am a firm believer that when we die, our passed pets are there to greet us. You will see him again.
Dukey loved the good times when you when you were both happy, remember? Snuggling, nuzzling, rubbing, purring. Even now, he wants that for you.
It takes time, but eventually it won't hurt quite so badly.

Oh no that's terrible. It is sad when a beloved pet dies, but it's good to know that they have gone on to a better and happier place where they can still watch over you. I bet your Dukey will even pay you some visits ocassionaly, though you might not know he's there. And I'm sure he knows how much you love him. It will take some time for the healing process to begin, but know that you can still even talk to him in your prayers. Think about how happy he made you. He will always be with you though it won't be physically and remember you will see him again one day :)
I hope this makes you feel even slightly better.

My Blessings to you over your loss. There is no easy answer here. Your love for Dukey is real, and no one should try to diminish that. Grieving is normal, but realize that you will need to move on. I lost my 15 yo fur son last yr. I still have my days. I try to remember the funny times. I also keep a little personal symbol with me, that helps. Hang In There!

Of course you're grieving. I have gone through it with a cat I rescued...she was just the runt of the litter. She made it to 2 yrs old and had to be put down due to a terminal illness she had since birth (never knew it though until the very end). Talk about heartbreaking! Watching her die was horrible. I doubt it's comfort, but thankfully you didn't watch your kitty die. Take heart in the memories and love you have for him and it will get easier. Having his grave close by is nice because you can visit him and talk to him anytime you want. It should be nice knowing he's still around for you. Good luck.

:*(, I am so sorry, I know you're hurting. My kitties are like kids to me, and, even though they're all gonna leave me someday, I can't even handle the thought of anything happening to any of them.
Let yourself grieve, it's a necessary process. In time, you'll still be sad and miss him, but it will become more .... tolerable, if that's even the word to use.
My condolences to you..

Oh, jeez, I'm sorry. I haven't had a pet death before, but just thinking about does make me want to cry. Just think about all of the good times you have had together, and that he is in a better place. I'm truly sorry.

I was this way over my Oreo. It does hurt and it will take time. My cat was my baby, it sounds like yours was too. I am sorry for your loss. I wish I had more to give you.
