It's a new bike and I'm just learning to ride again. Am I too far forward on the seat? Am I going to get used to this?

Something is definitely out of whack. You should be sitting on your sit bones not your tail bone. Could be riding position, maybe the seat, but I'm leaning more toward position. You need to go to a bike shop, they will be glad to help you, a happy cyclist will buy another bike someday, hopefully from the guys who were helpful. Its to hard to tell from a e-mail you need to have someone watch you on the bike to tell. Having your tail bone hurting is not a good thing, go to a shop please.

The seat should be high enough so that your leg is straight when your heel is on the pedal. Angle the seat so that the front is a little higher than back. You might want to try a spring saddle

Probably it might be a size question, or how you have the saddle. Maybe it is too high. You should almost be able to stretch your whole leg on the downward stroke, but not lock it.

Also, if you're doing mountain biking, usually you have to stand up on the descents and hard places.

It is pro-bally because the seat does not fit you find a shop that will fit the seat to you

It's just that you sit too far on the seat. You should sit on the nearer side.
