What is a good, accurate brand of .45 Auto ammunition that is cheap enough to practice a lot with?

Yeah... sure !!!!... Go ahead and use old tire weights !!!!!... and you'll be replacing your barrel due to improper hardness of your bullets !!!!!

The most inexpensive .45ACP rounds are Blazer... Not reloadable but pretty good accuracy.

If you want to learn to reload, go to any website and get good information. Casting your own bullets is a pain and factory bullets have come down in price over the last few months. I'm sure they'll go back up so do a lot of pricing. When you get a good price, buy as much as you can afford because the war effort is having an effect on the availability of ammo. Most manufacturers have retooled to provide for the armed forces.

I used Blazer Brass from Wally World until I collected enough cases to start reloading my own. .45 ACP ain't cheap, but if you have a Wally World around, you are pretty much getting the best deal. I prefer the Winchester white box ammo to the Blazer, it's a little cleaner but it cost a few dollars more.

I reload for both .45 ACP and .40S&W. The initial investment for the reloading equipment seems like a lot at first, but when you cut the cost of your ammo almost in half, it pays for itself. The more you shoot, the more you save.

If you are just shooting occasionally, a few hundred rounds here and there, you may be better off just buying your ammo, but once you start reloading, you will want to go shoot more.

As other posters have said, .45 ACP is not cheap.

The cheapest I've been able to find it, though, is at Wal-Mart, where you can buy Winchester White Box value packs at about $26.00 for 100 rounds. This ammo IS reloadable, so if you get into that, you can save even more money by collecting the spent cases.

Remington-UMC or Winchester USA brand are the cheapest around here. Shop around the gun stores in your area for bargain ammo. WalMart here doesn't sell bargain ammo, just the high priced stuff. If you want to go the cheap route, learn to reload your own. Save all your brass. The first few boxes will be more expensive until your equipment is paid for, but if you shoot a lot the equipment will pay for itself quickly.
BTW don't listen to the guy who said wheel weight lead will ruin your barrel. Wheel weights are not harder than steel. Hardball ammo is copper plated steel bullets.
I haven't yet chosen to cast my own bullets, because here the ones already made are cheaper than the equipment to cast them.

I agree with the one guy, there is none that is cheap. I usually shoot the Winchester white box at walmart. Its 100 rounds for about 27 dollars. I havent had any problems with feeding or jamming and it shoots as accurate as any Ive tried. It is a little dirty shooting though.

I agree with Sheepdog. The cheapest I have found was the WInchester at Wal-Mart. It was $26/100 rounds. But the best bet is to learn to reload your own.

.45 CCI Blazer Brass. Go and get it at walmart. I never go to the range without stopping at walmart first.
10 dollars and change for a box of 50. They feed GREAT.

No such thing as cheap ammo for a .45 auto.

Learn to reload. Cast your own bullets using scrap wheel weight lead and you can cut your costs considerably.

Home loads from home cast bullets are not as accurate as the factory bullets (home loaded using factory made bullets can be more accurate than factory loads... but don't save as much money) so adjust your acceptable grouping size according to the average accuracy your loads give.
