By unistalling that program it may have deleted the audio driver in your system. To check for the audio driver go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and check under +Sound Video and Game Controllers to make sure it's got a plus sign. If you see a yellow exclamation mark (!) then there is problem with the audio driver. If this is the case you need to re-install the audio driver using the Drivers cd that came along with your system, if you don't have that cd, you can go to the manufacturers website and download the driver from there ( usually under support > downloads). If the driver is not the issue, then you can check the audio settings under Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices> Click on the Audio tab and check under default device for an audio device, you may have to click on arrow down and scroll down to choose and audio device. After this you should have sound again. By the way VIA is the chipset of the motherboard in your computer, this may be helpful when searching for the drivers.

I think you lost your sound driver. Just right click on my computer, select properties. Goto hardware tab and select devices. Some of the devices should be listed with warning trangle. Right click on that and select install drivers. You should be able to find the drivers on your computer hard disk.

If you are not getting any warning right click on the top computer and select search for devices. This will get the search going for your soundd card and you on your way.

You removed a control panel applet, or you uninstalled software from add / remove programs applet?

Did you mute all your sounds in the sounds and media devices applet?
