Interesting question. I look at this way, its better to throw the paper away than it is to burn it. Paper is made mostly of natural fibers, wood and other plants. It would eventually decompose into something that is good for the enrionment. An example are worms. You can put earthworms in wet paper and they will eat it, turning the paper into highly benifical fertilizer.

If you burn the paper you release its carbon into the air. In the forms of carbon dioxide and smoke/soot. CO2 is the major cause of global warming.

Compost it.

Try not to use it in the first place.

Refuse telephone directories (paper copy) find numbers online.

Don't buy magazines. Use your local library, find info online or buy second hand books from car boot sales then pass them on so they are reused.

Make notes on the computer when studying. Use a chalk board for family messages.

Use waste paper as many times as you can before it goes in the compost. Use scraps for notes, to make paper bricks, line waste bins, make plant pots with etc.

Think about it ,.
paper comes from trees its organic ,

It composts just as well as leaves and can be used in the garden as mulch,

You can put it on the compost heap

Burning is a waste of organic resource as well as poluting the Air

You must be a Christian they always burn everything they dont like ,like heretics.leaves .forests .

It's best to recycle all of your paper - everything from paper you use at the office or in school, to newsprint, to phone directories and magazines. Paper is renewable and can easily be recycled into new paper. Almost any recycling center accepts "mixed paper"; "newsprint"; "magazines"; or "telephone books". Thanks for recycling! -RKO- 6/16/07
