to his friends. Most of them refused and stopped being friends with him. But they did not report him to the police. They left me to be sexually tortured. Why don't men police each other? Why do they have this "I can't get involved" attitude when they see other men being abusive?

I am Sorry that your father did this to you. You should report him and the other men that did not call the police. I think the men that did not call the police are cowards and that looking the other way is too common in this day and age. They don't get involved Because it is the theme don't be a snitch that you here now adays. Women don't get involved either.

Well - I think they have a fear of their names turning up in police reports and scandals... but it is unfair to the victim.

I would most definitely report someone - especially if I did not care to be their friend anymore.
I would not feel good about myself if I didn't take the right steps to protect a child.

You can actually prosecute those men who did not call the police and you can win in court... those men should have to pay for not being responsible citizens.

Many people chose to look the other way, they don't want to be involved. The same thing happened to me when I was young and everyone who knew, which was everyone that knew us looked the other way, then when he was finally arrested after molesting 4 of us everyone wanted to come out then and say they new. If you are still in the situation run away to the nearest police station. I was in foster care for many years and had good experiences. Don't rely on other people who know your family to help you because they won't and it won't end until you get out.

You need to report the bastard, if your stilll underage, foster homes don't always have to be a bad thing. There are legal ways to get yourself up & out of this situation, and have them dealt with to the furtherest degree. Please take my advice. I have family who take in foster children, some of the kids are really greatful for these families that do care.

I hope you are out of that situation now. Those men who said nothing about what was happening to you are not men, they are cowards and just as guilty as your father for not putting a stop to the abuse.I hope you got counseling and if not, its not too late to seek guidance in dealing with something as traumatic as what you've endured. All my best to you....

No man would allow an eight year old to be sexually abused and not do anything about it. Unfortunately for you, your father and his friends do not qualify for the distinction of manhood.
