What's the best brand of HDTV to get?

We are looking at a Sanyo and a Vizio, which in your opinion is better, and why?

Go with a samsung or a sony. They both have great products but they will cost you more than those discount brands. I would recommend that you get buy a consumer reports guide or go to cnet.com reviews. Sometimes the discount tv brands (like sanyo and vizio) aren't a quality. That's the thing about electronics--you gotta be willing to shell out a few extra bucks to get something that will last longer and perform better.

Vizio Plasma is almost identical part for part to a LG Plasma
the company Vizio is not even close to LG in quality

The Vizio DLP is cheap overpriced parts like the lamp
and cheap cabinet designs incl the screen protector

Vizio has a very poor Idea of customer service
call them and after 4-6 hrs on hold you should get the idea

Sanyo the one company most well known for KILLING the BETA VCR market.
When thier market started falling in the early 80's in BETA
VCR's due to a reputation as a tape KILLER they bought FISHER audio an India based company that made very poorly designed audio for sale in furniture stores at very high markups
Over the years Sanyo has proven to be a company that cant find a market they are good in
HDTV is no exception

For that reason my answer to your question would be first
Vizio HD plasma of all available to you

Find another TV another Brand
Pioneer makes extremely nice Plasma TV's
JVC makes awesome HD-ILA DLP sets
Samsung makes a very nice STD DLP
Panasonic makes a nice LCD projection TV
Sharp makes nice flat panel LCD's
Hitachi the best in CRT projection Toshiba second

Well you can't really base the quality of a product on name. Just look at the iPod. It's mediocre, but because iPod USED to have great MP3 players, consumers still like to think they are quality because of the name. Considering that Vizio's don't get good reviews, I would settle for a Sanyo.

Samsung is getting the best reviews overall. Check out buyer reviews on BestBuy.com and CircuitCity.com for instance. You can probably find reviews online for those other brands as well.

those are both crap, do yourself a favor and hop on www.amazon.com and look at any of the samsungs.
