That's a good question. First, If we were not fighting the terrorists there, we would be fighting them here. Second, in one terrorist attack on the U.S. ( remember 9-11) they killed almost as many innocent americans as have died in the war. Second, the Iraqi's need and want us there. Don't listen to the biased news broadcasts here in the U.S. that lie, talk to a soldier who was there. 80% of iraq is stable, but the news only covers the 20% that they can sensationalize.
The biggest mistake the we made in the war, was not having an exit strategy. By that I mean, The president and his advisers thought that when we began the war, the Iraqi soldiers would give up in mass, as they did during the invasion of Kuwait. And that we would be out rapidly. They failed to plan properly for a harsher war. We are in a tough fight there. But, if the people of this country support the men and women fighting there, it is still very win-able. But, if we listen to the liberals, who are backstabbing the president, and stirring up the miss- informed public, it will turn into another Viet Nam fiasco.
If we want to finish this fight, we need to double the men and equipment on the ground in Iraq, kick the butts of the rebels and foreighn fighters, stabilize the country and come home.
Remember this too, when we started this fight, we won quickly, but the sudden influx of fighters and equipment from Iran and Syria started the bloody mess we have now. Close the boarders for starters. Also, everyone is tip toeing around and making sure we don't get oil from Iraq because every other country would start claiming we only did it for the oil. I figure the free people of Iraq owe the U.S. a huge debt, both in lives lost and expenses. So, we should be getting a lot of the iraq oil at low prices to pay us back, and to lower our fuel costs here.
I know this kind of rambled, but it is a huge issue, with lots of other issues connected to it.
Hope this helped

I could write a book to answer this question, but some basic reasons are:

1. A stable Iraq that is friendly with the US would help us greatly when some other Muslim states (like Saudi for instance, or Kuwait) turn on us. Even if they don't, Iran and Syria are anti US. For diplomatic reasons, it would be nice to have a western friendly Iraq.

2. At the present time, we are fighting terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. That is keeping the terrorists fairly busy. If we do leave Iraq, that will not only allow Iran to move in and take over Iraq, it will also allow Al Quaida more time and ability to plan and execute attacks over here.

3. This is the big one. Even the radical Muslims have their own kind of honor. If we just pull out, that will be the same as surrendering to them (Are you listening Reid and Pelosi? No, I didn't think so). We would be showing them cowardice. That would be an open invitation for them to do whatever they could to totally destroy the US. Can you imagine what could have happened if instead of jet liners, the terrorists had used small dirty nukes?

The fear is that if the US leaves now a civil war will break out and the different tribes will start killing each other off, which more cynical people believe is the best thing to do anyway, just let the crazies kill each other.

Also Iran has been supplying terrorists with weapons and the fear is that Iran will move in and make Iraq a haven for terrorism.

As far as soldiers dying, well I thought getting killed was one of the risks of their jobs. I don't hear anyone complaining about all the coal miners who are killed every year, but that doesn't have a political agenda attached to it.

And as far as the cost, the liberals and the democrats want to use all that money they would save fighting against a real and immediate threat, terrorism, and appease another threat, which is illegal immigration, by giving tens of millions of illegals amnesty and free medical.

So, tax dollars will get spent one way or another. The question is, do you believe in protecting your country or selling it down the road.

No information right here. in simple terms my opinion: That the worldwide is getting extra interactive, and the dominant variety of authorities won't be able to be violent dictatorship. i think that ruling with the aid of brute tension would be eradicated interior the subsequent a hundred years. Iraq and Afghanistan are almost as good a place to start up as any. pass us of a !!

Iraq is viewed by our enemies (muslim extremists) as the main front in their war against the western world. If we fail to confront them on their ground we'll be forced to deal with them on ours. Our problems will only follow us if we leave prior to defeating the enemy by helping the Iraqi people establish a stable democratic government. Not only that, if we leave too early we'll be right back here in 5 - 10 years to deal with an even worse situation. Bottom line...we must finish the job no matter what.

If the United States of America leaves Iraq, I predict that there will be an event of genocide throughout the country like the genocide that occurred in Rwanda in 1994, and event I NEVER WANT TO SEE AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME. If you want to read further details, I suggest you go to an answer I gave to a similar question under Mr. Knowledgeable VI at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkgAcs8.dhXLWiLxGAnjJ4vsy6IX?qid=20070614103430AA8KrZs&show=7#profile-info-6c2984cc31b7ebcccbe68db53a6ee56faa.

It's from Bush, he doesn't care how many people are killed , he just wants to make the profits for the oil company and he needed a reason to go to war that is why 9/11 was planned, because many Americans are against going to war. He needed 9/11 to happen so people would bend in favor of getting the ones responsible, who are BTW still not captured !

There is no good reason to be in there. The place is a complete mess. The sacrifices by American soliders are not improving conditions.
