Is 4-6 pounds healthy for a full grown maltese?

According to the standard they should be under 7 pounds, but 4 - 6 is ideal.

If the maltese is fairly small, four pounds is okay--but he/she should be 6-8 pounds. When in doubt, call your vet.

that is the preferred size for show with AKC.
