My husband added 134a refrigerant to our quest already but when he went to his 1994 sentra he told me that this car needs to be done at the dealer. My question is that true, does a nissan sentra 1994 need to brought to the dealer for more ac or this is a car that can be done at home? If it is a home job, is it done like the quest, just add more 134a or something else. He just got this old car about a month ago and has never added ac to it.

My husband has been to the auto store and four of the associates tried, three different kits and told him that he has to go to dealer. The senior associate told him any sentra made before 1995 has to done at the dealer. I just wanted some outside opinions.

Refrigerant R-134 is used in a 1994 sentra what is the problem? He should however use a gauge manifold to see what the pressures are doing. At the dealer we recover weigh and vacuum down the system after repair and then refill with R-134 that car takes less than 2 pounds

Some have to be done by the dealer based on the type of refrigerant, why? because the refrigerant cannot be bought at a store.
