I heard that when using Windows Vista, Microsoft can see literally EVERYTHING that you are doing? If they see anything illegal like pirating music or movies, they can prosecute you, is this true?

Not true. A lot of stuff has been said in regards to Vista and pirated stuff, and almost all of it is untrue. First off, they are not "spying" on you at all. They do have some anti-piracy features builtin, but they ONLY apply to HD video, and are not even in use yet. Everything else you have heard is just a big anti-Microsoft rumor.

Never tried, so I don't know. But I think it's not true that you can pirate music or movies with Vista. Vista was designed to fight illegal software. The operating system automatically removes anything it thinks is illegal for you to have. This means if you download something that is illegal and Windows Vista recognizes it, zap! It's gone.

So, I think they won't prosecute you. Vista just wants to make sure you can't break the law. If you do break the law and Vista doesn't detect it, then you are behind the radar. If they didn't detect any illegal activity, how could they prosecute you?
